Neil Frogurt
Neil was referenced, but not seen when Bernard asked Hurley to go get "the Frogurt guy" to help them build the S.O.S. sign.He was seen in a mobisode with Hurley, where the two talked about their romantic interests in Libby.
Neil's last name is not actually Frogurt. People call him that because he used to make frozen yogurt. He doesn't like being called Frogurt.

Richard Alpert
We first saw Richard in the seventh episode of season 3 (Not in Portland) when he recruited Juliet and took her to the island. Since then he has been a prominent fixture on the island and seems to be in a leadership role with the Others.The most interesting thing about him is it seems he either doesn't age, or that he travels through time as he looks the same in the present as he did in a flashback when Locke was a baby and when Ben was a young boy.
At the end of season 4, Ben sends Locke outside the Orchid to find Richard for his next instructions. When Richard sees him, he welcomes him "home".

Dr. Marvin Candle
We first saw Dr. Marvin Candle on the Orientation film that Desmond had Locke and Jack watch in the Swan station. He explained about the station and the importance of typing in the code and pressing the button.Since then, we've seen Marvin Candle in other Orientation videos for other stations, each time going by a different name, always having to do with candles (Mark Wickmund, Edgar Halliwax). At Comic-Con we saw a video that appeared to be Marvin Candle giving up on the Dharma research. This time he introduced himself with what appears to be his real name, Pierre Chang.

Ethan Rom
We first met Ethan back in season 1 when he was hanging around with Locke. Hurley did a census and realized that Ethan hadn't been on the plane. Ethan kidnapped Claire and Charlie and when Kate and Jack followed, he strung up Charlie by the neck and hung him from a tree.Charlie later shot and killed Ethan in revenge because he took Claire. As Claire begins to get her memory back, she remembers Ethan taking care of her at a medical station and talking to her about giving her baby up.
Later, we learned that Ethan was the surgeon for the Others and also he was off the island when Richard recruited Juliet.

Penny Widmore
Penny is the love of the Desmond's life and the person who has been searching for him since he disappeared after entering a boating race around the world put on by her father.Desmond and Penny were finally reunited when her boat picked up the Oceanic 6 and Desmond and Frank.

Charles Widmore
Charles Widmore is Penny's father and has been searching for the island for several years. He has some kind of past with Ben and the two are enemies.Ben blames Charles for the death of his daughter, Alex, and has vowed to kill Charles' daughter.
Fake plane wreckage was planted in the ocean, possibly by Charles Widmore.
