Question: What is a 'Lost' Flashback?
Answer: Flashbacks are used in Lost to tell the past stories of the main characters. During almost every episode of the first three seasons, one character had a series of flashbacks, giving us insight into his or her life before the plane crash. The flashbacks became subplots as they introduced the secrets and challenges of the characters.

Flashbacks are still used during some episodes.
