What is the Orchid Station?

By Bonnie Covel, About.com

Question: What is the Orchid Station?
The term "Orchid Station" was first introduced at San Diego Comic Con in 2007.
Answer: Comic-Con happens in San Diego every year. It is a comics and popular arts convention with special guests, themes and anniversaries, and programming. Lost executive producers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have done a Lost panel the last few years.

During the 2008 Lost panel, they showed a video of a station called The Orchid. On the video was Edgar Halliwax (who we've also seen as Marvin Candle and Mark Wickman in other Dharma films). He explains that The Orchid is not really a botanical station, but things go wrong when a bunny appears and the video is cut short.

See: The Orchid Video.

Ben takes Locke into the Orchid Station and shows him a video of Marvin Candle talking about the station. Ben blows a hole in the wall and reveals a big wheel, which he turns to move the island (Ep: 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2).

When they begin skipping through time, Locke believe they have to get to The Orchid so that he can get off the island and get those back who had left and that will stop the skipping.

They find The Orchid, but after a flash it disappears and Locke finds the well that Charlotte had spoken of and goes down into it to turn the wheel (Ep: 5x5, This Place is Death).
