'Lost' Answer - How the Island was Formed

Was the island formed naturally? Did it pop up because of a volcano (we never did hear more about that volcano that Olivia mentioned when she was teaching Ben's class)? Was it man made? Was it made by a higher power?

• It formed naturally much like the Hawaiian islands were formed by volcanoes. That special light came up out of the underworld due to the rise of this new land.
