Hurley on Team Locke

Locke and Hurley sit in the jungle. "You got yourself good and lost out here, Hugo. How did you get separated from the group?" He gives Hurley a bottle of water.

"I just fell behind, I guess."

"Is that why you were shouting for help?"

"I got scared."

Locke says, "What Desmond said happened down in that station, 'Not Penny's boat,' are you sure that's what Charlie wrote on his hand?"

"Jack should never have called those people."

"I couldn't agree more."

"It's going to be hard to talk them into thinking that they're not coming here to rescue us."

"Well, we're just going to have to try our best, Hugo. 'Cause if we can't talk them out of it, then Charlie died for nothing." He stands.

Hurley and Locke find Sayid's gang and Sawyer says, "Where the hell you been, Hugo?"

"Sorry, I got lost."

"What are you doing here?" Sayid asks Locke.

"I came here for the same reason you did, to warn Jack about the people on that boat. I already gave it a shot, but I figured I might have better luck with some support."

"You want my support?" Sayid says. "Then tell me why you destroyed that submarine."

They hear a noise and point their guns toward it. It's the main group, minus Jack, Kate, Rousseau, Naomi, and Ben. Many of them hug.

Bernard tells Rose, "I'm still in one piece."

Claire looks for Charlie. Hurley tells Desmond, "I'll tell her."

Crying, Hurley says, "He's dead. Charlie's dead." They hug.

Hurley's Flash Forward - Charlie

Hurley is outside at the mental institution. He's painting a picture of a man bundled against the snow outside an igloo.

Someone walks by and says, "I'd watch out if I were you."

"What are you talking about, Dude?"

"There's a guy over there staring at you."

Hurley looks over. It's Charlie. "Hey man, don't run." Hurley gets up and Charlie says, "Hurley, just sit down. I want to talk to you. Come on, don't do what you did in the store. There' s no need to freak out."

"No need to freak out? I'm trying to buy some jerky and a slushy and suddenly you're standing over by the Ho-Hos. You're dead, what do you expect me to do?"

"Just sit down," Charlie calmly says.

"I may be in a mental hospital, but I know you're dead and I'm not having an imaginary conversation with you."

Charlie takes off his sunglasses and says, "I am dead. But I'm also here."

"Okay, prove it."

Charlie slaps him and hurts him.

"Okay, okay," Hurley says. "Did you know you were going to die when you swam out there?"

Charlie nods.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you would have tried to stop me. And since I was going to do it anyway, I thought I would spare you from all the drama. But now you've got to do something for me. You've been hiding from it. That's the real reason you ran when you saw me in the store. You knew I was here to tell you."

"I'm not listening to this." He puts his hands over his ears. "You're not here."

"I am here. You're being a baby."

"I'm going to count to five and close my eyes and when I open them you'll be gone."

"I am here."

"One."

"Don't do this."

"Two."

"They need you."

"Three."

"They need you, Hugo."

"Four."

"You know they need you!"

"Five." He opens his eyes and Charlie is gone.

Jack or Locke

Hurley cries with Claire. "What happened?" she asks. "I mean how did he?"

"He was trying to help us," Hurley says.

Jack, Rousseau, and Ben walk up to them and Jack decks Locke, knocking him to the ground. Jack gets Locke's gun.

"Jack," Juliet says.

"You're not going to shoot me Jack, anymore than I was going to shoot-"

Jack pulls the trigger.

"It's not loaded," Locke says.

Sawyer and Sayid pull Jack off of Locke.

"Get off of me!" Jack says. "Do you know what he did?"

"Yes, I know what he did," Sayid says.

"All I did," Locke says, "all I have ever done, has been in the best interest of all of us."

"Are you insane?" Jack yells.

"I know I have a lot of explaining to do, but I never did anything to hurt any of you. I even risked my life to tell you that there was a trader." He points to Juliet.

Jack says, "She helped us, John. All you ever did was blow up every chance we had of getting off this island. You killed Naomi!"

"Well, technically," Ben says, "he didn't kill her yet."

"Yes he did." Kate joins them. "She just died. She didn't give you up, John. She covered for us and she fixed this." She hands the phone to Jack. "They're on their way."

"She didn't cover for anyone," Locke says. "She wants her people to come here. And trust me, when they do, you want to be far away from here. I'm going to the Barracks. The Others abandoned them. It's the only place on the island with any form of security right now. It will have to do until I think of something else. Until then, if you want to live, you need to come with me."

"No one is going anywhere with you, John, because they're not crazy," Jack says.

"He's not crazy," Hurley says. "What about Charlie? Charlie went down to that place so we could all be rescued. And whatever he did down there, it worked. But then something must have happened. He must have heard something before he-I don't know why, but he changed his mind. Because the last thing he did was to warn us that the people on that boat were not who they said they were. So I'm not listening to you! I'm listening to my friend. I'm listening to Charlie." Hurley goes and stands with Locke.

"Anyone else?" Locke asks. "There isn't much time."

Claire goes with Locke and several other people follow.

Ben says, "Jack, with your permission, I'd like to go with John."

"He's all yours," Jack says to Locke.

Alex and Karl go with Locke, as well as Rousseau.

Bernard tells Rose, "You said you never wanted to leave the island. If you go with Locke, I'll be right behind you."

"I'm not going anywhere with that man," she says.

Sawyer starts to walk over and Kate says, "What are you doing?"

"Same thing I've always done, Kate," Sawyer says, "surviving."

It starts to rain. "You know where to find us when you change your mind," Locke says.
