Kate Begs Jack to do the Surgery
Juliet walks Kate into the room on the other side of the glass from Jack. She removes the bag from Kate's head. Jack and Kate stare at each other, then go up to the glass."I'll give you two some privacy," Juliet says and walks out.
"You okay?" Jack asks.
"Yeah," Kate says. "You?"
"I'm great. Where they keeping you?"
"Outside, in a cage."
"Sawyer?"
"He's in a cage, too. They're making us work," she says. "I don't know what it is, but it's big. We're hauling rocks."
"Did they hurt you?"
She starts to cry. "Jack, you have to do it. This thing that they told you to do, this operation."
Jack looks up at the camera and back to Kate. "What did they do to you? What did they do to you? How did they get you to ask me? What did they offer you? What are you doing here?"
"They're going to kill Sawyer. I'm so sorry, but she said that if you do it and you do it soon, they'll let us go."
"And you believe them?"
"I have to," she says. "Jack, please."
"We're done here," he says, then yells, "We're done in here!"
Ben is watching him on the TV screen. "Get her out of there," Ben says.
Kate's Flashback - Calling the Marshal
Kate walks through a grocery store. Her cell phone rings and she smiles. "Hey, you," she says.On the other end, Kevin sits in a car in the rain. "Hey, what's for dinner, gorgeous?"
"It's taco night."
"You're making tacos?"
She laughs and says, "Yes, and you better like them."
"Or what?"
"Or no dessert. I'm leaving now, I'll be home soon."
"Love you."
"I love you, too," she says.
She takes her bags and runs through the rain to a phone booth. She puts money into the pay phone and dials a number. She sets a timer and puts it above the phone.
The Marshal answers the phone, "Agent Mars."
"It's me," she says.
He snaps up his head and he signals for another man to trace the call. "I'm glad, I realized today that it was the Feast of the Essentials and I was feeling bad. A lot of holy days have come and gone since you last called, and I thought you and I were friends."
"I don't want to run anymore."
"What's his name?" he asks. "Does he know who you are?"
"Edward, please, I know you don't want to spend the rest of your life chasing me. Please, just let me go."
"I'll tell you what, if you can really stay put, really settle down, then I'll stop chasing you. But you and I both know, that's not going to happen."
The timer goes off and Kate jumps. She hangs up the phone.
Where's Sawyer?
Juliet puts Kate back into her cage. "Where's Sawyer?" Kate asks."You really care about him, huh?" Juliet says.
"Where is he?"
"I'm sorry you weren't able to help us, Kate."
"Move it, Ford," Pickett says. He walks Sawyer toward the cage.
"Danny," Juliet says in warning, then Pickett hits Sawyer. "Danny!" Juliet yells.
"Right, sorry Jules," Danny says. He closes the cage and tells Sawyer, "You got anything you want to say to your girl, you best say it tonight."
Pickett walks off and Juliet follows.
Sawyer stands and says, "And how was your day, honey?"
Eko's Funeral
Sayid, Desmond, Paulo, Nikki, and Locke stand around Eko's grave. Locke says, "When the hatch exploded, your prayer stick fell out of a tree, right on top of me. So, Sayid and I went out to get it. It didn't feel right to bury you without it. I'd like to think you died for a reason, Mr. Eko. I just hope it's not too long before we find out what the heck it might be. Rest in peace, Mr. Eko."Locke begins to pound the prayer stick into the ground. "Thank you for helping me-" Locke stops and looks at the prayer stick. An engraving says, Lift up your eyes and look north John 3:05. Locke studies it.
