Seeing Jack
An alarm sounds outside the cages. Juliet and some other people lead Jack by the cages. He has a bag over his head. Kate and Sawyer yell for Jack, but he can't hear them over the alarm.Inside a room, Ben says, "Have you lost your mind? You bring him here?"
"He's a doctor, he can help," Juliet says.
"Well this is not why-"
"Do you want her to die?" Juliet asks.
Jack looks through a door at Pickett standing over Colleen on an operating table. Tom stands in the background.
"What happened?" Jack asks.
"Gun shot wound to the abdomen." They both scrub their hands.
Jack looks at some X-rays. "Those aren't hers," Juliet says. "Come on."
"What's he doing in here?" Pickett asks.
"Danny, he's here to help," Juliet says.
"Tell him who did this, he ought to know that," Pickett says.
"Get him out of here," Jack says.
Tom and Juliet try to get Pickett to leave, but Pickett says, "She's my wife." Tom takes him out and Jack starts working on Colleen.
Juliet says, "I got the bullet out, but she's still bleeding."
Jack asks Juliet to clamp so he can get a better look. "I'm not a surgeon," she says.
"I know," Jack says, "but I need you to do this." He asks for lap pads.
Pickett paces in the viewing room.
Colleen flat lines and Jack says, "A crash cart. Juliet, I need paddles, now."
"It's broken," she says. "We haven't had anything happen before."
Jack tries CPR, but nothing happens. "Time of death," he looks for a clock, but sees none, "she's gone."
"They did this. They did this!" Pickett yells. He goes out and opens Sawyer's cage and throws him in front of Kate's cage. Sawyer's watch beeps. Pickett says to Kate, "You love this guy?"
Pickett beats on Sawyer while yelling, "Do you love him?"
Kate puts her arms through the bars around Sawyer, but doesn't answer the repeated question. Finally, she says, "Yes, I love him."
Sawyer's Flashback - Munson's Money
Munson wants to talk to him and Sawyer goes down the hall with him. He says, "You were right. I loved her. I thought she-""10 mil is a lot of green backs, Killer. That's why you never get attached, because once you care, that's when they can come at you."
Munson says he needs Sawyer to move the money. His wife hired a PI and she's going to find it. Sawyer says no, and Munson points out that if Sawyer doesn't help him, the warden will get it all.
Kate's Escape
Sawyer nurses his wounds in his cage and Kate asks if he's okay."The guy hits like a girl. No offense."
"Why'd he do that?" she asks.
"I don't know," Sawyer says.
Kate climbs up to the top of the cage and Sawyer says that the time ain't right.
As Kate climbs out she says, "I don't know what they did to you, but I know that you're scared enough to lie about it, and that scares me more than anything they have done to us before."He tells her to wait as she jumps to the ground. She goes to Sawyer's cage and beats on the lock with a rock. He asks what she's doing and she says she can get him out. "I'm not leaving here without you."
"You've got to leave me," Sawyer says and his watch beeps.
"What is that thing?" she asks.
"Run. Just go. It's every man for himself."
"Why didn't you fight back? For once in your life, tell me the truth."
"If you really loved me, you'd go."
"I only said that so he'd stop hitting you." Kate turns around and climbs back into her cage.
"Damn it, Freckles, don't. Every man for himself."
"Live together, die alone," she says.
Ben and Tom watch Sawyer on a TV screen. "You know Danny wants to kill him," Tom says.
"Danny can wait," Ben says.
Tom wants to know if he should bring Shephard back.
"No, I want him to sit with her for awhile longer," Ben says.
Jack is handcuffed to the operating table. Colleen has a sheet over her.
Juliet walks in and says, "I'm sorry they had to put handcuffs on you. I'm a fertility doctor. I'm not used to death."
"What was her name?"
"Cole. It was short for Colleen. I should have come to get you sooner."
"It wouldn't have mattered. She was dead before you put her on the table."
"Are you just saying that to make me feel better?"
"I don't care about making you feel better."
"I'm going to take you back now," Juliet says. "I'm sorry for bringing you here." She bends down to unlock his cuffs.
Jack grabs her wrist. "Whose X-rays are those outside? Those are spinal X-rays and they belong to a man about 40 years old and there is a large tumor on his L-4 vertebra. And I just happen to be a spinal surgeon. So, tell me, Juliet, who am I here to save?"
