Golf Club
Paulo uses fruit as golf balls, and hits them out into the ocean. Desmond approaches. "Don't mind me, brother, I'm just going to take one of your clubs. Hurley said it'd be alright.""Hurley, huh?" Paulo says. "Does this mean you're off to save the day? Take the 5 iron. I never use it. That way when you die in the jungle doing whatever it is you're doing, I don't have to go looking for it."Desmond tells him he might want to square his shoulders a bit more.
Bunnies and Pace Makers
Sawyer comes to, still shackled to the table and he has a bandage with some blood on it taped to his chest. Tom walks in with a white bunny in a cage. The bunny has a black number eight painted on it's back side. Tom places the cage on Sawyer's stomach.Ben picks up the cage and shakes the bunny. He looks from the bunny to Sawyer and keeps yelling and shaking the bunny until it flops on the bottom of the cage.
"Did you just kill that bunny?" Sawyer asks.
"You know what a pacemaker is? They stick them in the tickers of people who've had bypass or whose hearts need just a little jump, a kick start. The rabbit had a small pacemaker set to deliver it's kick start should it get too excited, or anxious, or frightened, or should it try to escape."
Ben shows Sawyer a heart monitor, then puts it on Sawyer's wrist. "Assuming you were telling the truth about your age and weight, your resting heart rate should be about 70 beats per minute. Your active heart rate, however, that would be about 140, which is the point at which your pacemaker will cause your heart to explode. Which is how I know that you're going to start behaving now." He unshackles Sawyer. "The watch monitors your pulse. If it gets within 15 beats of your danger zone, it will start to beep. If and when it beeps, you're going to want to relax yourself."
"If you want me dead, why don't you just shoot me and get it over with?"
"Because we're not killers, James. Oh and one other thing. Kate. You tell her what we did, what we put in you, that we're watching you, you tell her any of these things, we'll put one in her too."They return Sawyer to the cage and Kate asks if he's okay. Tom puts a bucket in each cage and a bag in Kate's. "That's to clean yourselves up, and Kate, if any of that doesn't fit, you just give me a holler, okay?"
After they leave, Kate wants to know what happened, but Sawyer says nothing, they just asked him questions.
Kate doesn't believe him, but he wants her to quit asking. She dumps out the new clothes and tells Sawyer to turn around. He pulls the bandage off and looks at his wound.
He sneaks a peak at Kate, who is changing, and his monitor starts beeping.
"What's that?"
"It's my watch. It's busted."
"When did you get a watch?"
"Look," Sawyer yells, "I don't tell you everything. Just leave me alone. Put some clothes on!" Sawyer dumps the water on his head and the beeping slows.
Sawyer's Flashback - Cassidy's Visit
Sawyer watches Munson talk with his wife during visiting hours."Hello, Sawyer." Sawyer turns to see Cassidy.
"It's 'James Ford', and I know you know that because you got it right when you pressed charges."
"You're mad at me?" Cassidy says.
"Look where I am."
"Well what did you want me to do? You conned me."
"Something you want?"
She throws a picture of a baby in front of him.
"What's this?"
"This is your daughter."
"What do you want?"
"First I wanted you to know."
"Then what? Think I'm going to take one look at the picture and turn into Father Knows Best?"
"We're living in this little place near Albuquerque."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"I just thought you could write her a letter. Her name's Clementine."
"What the hell am I going to write? Dear, goo goo gaa gaa? She's a baby and she ain't mine."
"Sawyer, she is."
"I ain't got no daughter." He walks out.
Kate's Plan
Kate says, "I've been checking out my cage and I think if I climb to the top I can squeeze out. The bars are farther apart up there.""Don't bother," Sawyer says and she wants to know what he's talking about. He says they should just be smart and chill out and get the lay of the land."
Juliet Needs Jack
Juliet goes into Jack's room on the other side of the glass enclosure. He wants to know what she did to Sawyer because he heard him yelling and Juliet has blood on her clothes. "What'd you do to him?" he asks."It's not his blood," she says. "It's the blood of a woman who's dying. Jack, I need your help."
