Sun Knows Sayid is Lying
Sun brings stuff ashore. She asks Sayid what she can do and Sayid says to gather more wood. "We're building quite a big fire," she says.Sayid says that they have to make sure Jack will see it.
"Why are you lying to me?" Sun asks.
"What would you know about lying, Sun?"
"You're putting our lives in danger."
"I'm fairly certain our friends have been captured. There are tracks all over the dock. As fresh as yesterday."
"You said this dock was abandoned," Sun says.
"That would be part of the lying you mentioned," Sayid says."You're not building this fire for our people. You're building it for the Others."
"I suspect when they see the smoke they'll send a scout party to investigate. By then it will be night. When they arrive I'll ambush them. I'll take two hostage and kill the others."
"Two?"
"One to make the other cooperate."
"What do you need me to do?"
"I'm sorry," Sayid says, "but I'm going to have to ask you to lie to Jin for another 20 minutes. Once the fire is lit, it will be too late to go back."
Sun's Flashback - Jin's New Assignment
Sun looks at some kind of plate or something and Jin walks into the house. "You're home," she says.She puts down the plate and walks over to take his coat. He walks on without speaking to her.
They sit at the table and she lights a candle. He asks about her day and she says it was fine.
Jin says that he saw her father today and that he called him son for the first time. She wants to know why.
"He wants me to deliver a message."
"Are you going to do it?" Sun asks.
"I have to."
She begs him not to.
"You think it's that simple?"
She wants to start a new life, go away.
"If we run away your father would-"
"He won't know where we are. And you won't have to do this anymore."
Jin slaps the table and stands. "I do it for you, Sun! I do this because your father expects it! I do this because that's what it takes to be married to you!"
"And what does it take to be married to you?" Sun asks.
Jin walks out. She asks where he's going and he says to deliver the message.
Jin Knows Sun Betrayed Him
Jin asks Sayid for a gun. Jin talks to Sun and Sayid says, "What is it?""He knows what we're doing," Sun says. "He knows it's a trap. He says he understands English better than I think he does. He knows I betrayed him."
He asks Sayid again for the gun and Sayid gives him an automatic. Jin looks expert with the gun.
Sayid tells Sun she'd be safer on the boat. Sayid tells her that if they get past them, there is a gun in a blue tarp.
"If they get past you," Sun says, "that means my husband is dead. And I won't care anymore."
Sawyer Kisses Kate
Juliet drinks from a canteen, then looks at Sawyer. She throws him the canteen and he opens it and dumps out all the water.He continues his work and sees that Kate is exhausted. He walks up to her and kisses her. She kisses him back.
Pickett yells, grabs a rifle and runs over. Sawyer smiles at Kate and then is hit with the butt of Pickett's rifle. He fights with the men and gets a hold of a tazer, but when he tries to use it, nothing happens.
Sawyer gets control of a rifle and tells them to back off.
"James," Juliet says.
Sawyer turns around to see Juliet calmly holding a gun to Kate. "Put the gun down."
Pickett walks up and shocks Sawyer. He convulses on the ground.
