"Through the Looking Glass Part 2" Recap

Part 9

Jack's Flash Forward - The Woman Wakes

Jack tries a couple of keys until one unlocks a medical cabinet. He looks around, then takes some Oxycodone. He swallows one and puts the rest in his pocket. He goes out and hangs the key.

He looks around and knocks some files on the floor. As he picks them up, Dr. Hamill comes up behind him and asks what he's doing. Jack says he was just checking some charts to see how the operation went.

"I left three messages on your voice mail. You didn't get them?"

"My phone's broken."

"Let's go in my office, Jack."

"For what?"

"We need to have a talk."

"You know, I know that you're new around here and you don't know much about me--"

"I know enough. So let's just walk down to my office--"

"If you've got something to say to me, say it to me right here."

"Mrs. Arlynn, the woman you saved, woke up in recovery about two hours ago. She was in some pain, but highly responsive to the reflex test and entirely lucid."

"That's great."

"But then she described the series of events that caused her accident. She says she was driving over the bridge when she saw a man standing on the railing, about to jump off. She was distracted, lost control of her car, she ran into the median, rolled over, and was hit by the van behind her. So the obvious question here, Jack, is how did you get to that flaming car so fast? What were you doing on that bridge?"

"You know how many years I've worked at this hospital? Do you know anything about me? Do you have any idea what I've been through?"

"How much have you had to drink today, Jack?"

"Okay, I'll tell you this. You get my father down here. Get him down here right now, and if I'm drunker than he is, you can fire me. Don't look at me like that. Don't pity me."

"I'm trying to help you."

"You can't help me!"

I Saved Them All

Jack's group continues their hike, leading Ben by a rope.
On the walkie-talkie in his back pocket, Jack hears Hurley. "Attention Others. Come in Others. If you're listening to this, I want you to know that we got you bastards. And unless the rest of you want to be blown up, you best stay away from our beach."
"Hurley?"

"Jack?"

"Where are you? What's going on?"

"Dude, I'm back at the beach."

"What?"

"Yeah, I went back to help Juliet and Sawyer. I saved them."

"They're okay? Juliet--"

"Everyone's fine, me, Sawyer, Juliet, Sayid, Jin, Bernard, we're all--"

"Wait," Jack says, "Bernard and Jin and Sayid, they're with you?"

"Yeah, Dude, I told you, I saved them all."

Jack's group celebrates.

Jack says, "Stay put, we're almost to the tower. It's safer there."

"Yeah, dude, we'll stay put until you, like, phone home."
Claire gets the walkie and says, "What about Charlie? Did he make it back yet?"

"Not yet, but they're probably paddling home as we speak. Don't worry, I'm sure he's fine." Hurley looks out at the empty ocean.

Charlie

In The Looking Glass, Charlie points out the diving equipment to Desmond.

Charlie says, "Why don't you take care of that. I'll type out Good Vibrations."

As Desmond walks away, Charlie says, "Hey, Des, you get any flashes?"

"No," Desmond says.

"I'll meet you back here, then." Charlie goes in the other room.

The yellow light blinks off and on. Charlie looks around and finds a key pad. He closes his eyes and hums Good Vibrations and then types it out on the keypad.

The blinking light goes off. "So much for fate," Charlie says. But then he sees a red light that says incoming transmission.

"Hello? Can you hear me?"

"Yes. I can hear you," Charlie says.

"Who is this? Who am I speaking to?"

"Charlie. Charlie Pace. I'm a survivor of Flight 815. Oceanic Flight 815. We're on an island. We're alive."

"An island? What's your location?" As the screen gets clearer, we see that it's Penny.

"I don't know. Who's this?"

"This is Penelope. Penelope Widmore. How did you get this frequency?"

"Desmond," Charlie yells.

"Did you just say Desmond?" Penny asks.

"Yes."

"Is he okay?"

"He's brilliant! Hey, are you on the boat?"

"What boat?"

"Your boat, 80 miles off shore. Naomi parachuted."

"I'm not on a boat. Who's Naomi?"

Desmond sees boots and sees that Mikhail is missing. He runs toward the room Charlie is in.

Charlie hears tapping and looks at the port hole. Mikhail is there on the other side. He takes the pin out of a grenade. As Desmond runs towards Charlie yelling, "Penny!" Charlie locks the door.

Mikhail blows open the port hole and water rushes in. Desmond tries to break the glass window on the door.

Charlie watches the room fill up with water. Suddenly he gets his pen and writes on his hand. He puts his hand up against the door and Desmond sees that it says Not Penny's Boat. Desmond puts his hand against Charlie's on the other side of the door. Charlie nods. He floats backwards, crosses himself, then stops moving.
