Following Orders
Mikhail opens the door and walks out, putting on his eye patch."What did Ben say?" Greta asks.
"Can we kill him?" Bonnie says.
"Is it possible to turn this equipment off?" Mikhail asks.
"What?" Bonnie says.
"The equipment that's jamming this island, can you turn it off?"
"Sure," Greta says. "Ben gave us the code."
"You are the only ones who have it?"
"Sure," Bonnie says "Why?"
"What would happen if this station were to be flooded?" Mikhail asks.
"Nothing," Greta says. "The casing for the equipment is waterproof. It will keep going forever."
"Then why do you need to be here?" he asks.
"Because Ben told us to," Bonnie says. "We're following orders."
"And you never asked why?"
"No. Because I trust him and I trust Jacob. And the minute I start questioning orders, this whole thing, everything that we're doing here, falls apart."
"She makes an excellent point," he says and shoots Greta. She falls in the water.
Bonnie turns and runs, but he shoots her in the back. She moans.
"No, please," Bonnie says.
"I'm sorry, Bonnie," Mikhail says. "I too am following orders."
Desmond comes out of the closet with a spear gun. "Hey!" he says and shoots Mikhail when he turns around.
Bonnie tries to get Mikhail's gun, but Desmond runs and grabs it.
"No, Des! Des, don't!" Charlie says. "We need her."
Five Minutes
Jack walks over to Ben. He looks at Naomi and says, "Hi, I'm Benjamin. I don't believe we've met.""Don't talk to him," Jack tells Naomi.
Kate surveys the area and comes up behind Ben.
"What do you want?" Jack asks.
"Just a moment of your time, to talk, just you and me, alone," Ben says.
"For what?"
"Jack, you just killed seven of my people. The least you can give me is five minutes."
He asks Kate if Ben's alone and she says there are only two sets of tracks, his and Alex's.
"Five minutes," Jack says and follows Ben. As they walk, he grabs Ben's walkie-talkie.
Jack's Flash Forward - Prescription
Jack is at the prescription counter with several people in line behind him."I'm sorry, sir, there are no more refills left on this prescription."
Jack stares at her. "That's a mistake, I've only refilled it twice. Could you check again?"
"I did check it again, Dr. Shephard, and that was your third refill. There's nothing I can do."
"Fine," he says. "I've got another prescription right here." He reaches into his pocket.
A man in line says, "Hey, do I know you? You're the hero."
"I'm not a hero."
"Yeah, yeah, we saw it on TV." To the pharmacist he says, "Hey, lady, what's wrong with you? Just give this guy whatever he needs. Do you know what he did?"
"Here, here it is." Jack gives the pharmacist the prescription.
She looks at it. "Dr. Shephard, you can't write a prescription for yourself."
"That's not me. That's Dr. Christian Shephard. I'm Dr. Jack Shephard. He's my father."
"Well, I'm going to have to call your father's office." She picks up the phone.
"He's out of town."
"Well I'm sure someone in the office can--"
Jack hits the counter. "Don't bother." He runs into a display on his way out.
The Phone
Jack and Ben walk a little ways away from the others and Ben tells him to have a seat on a rock.Ben says, "Not so long ago I made a decision that took the lives of over 40 people in a single day. I'm telling you this because history is about to repeat itself, right here, right now."
"Let me guess," Jack says, "you've got us surrounded and if I don't do what you say, you're going to kill all my people."
"No, Jack, you are."
"And how am I going to do that, Ben?"
"That woman you're traveling with, the one who parachuted onto the island from a helicopter, she's not who she says she is."
"She's not, huh?"
"No, she's not."
"Then who is she?"
"She's a representative of some people who have been trying to find this island, Jack. She's one of the bad guys."
"Oh, I almost forgot, you're the good guys.""Jack, listen to me, if you phone her boat, every single living person on this island will be killed. So here's what has to happen, get that device, the phone she carries with her, and give it to me. I will turn around, we'll go back to our people, you will turn around and go back to your people."
They both stand.
"May I have my walkie back?" Ben asks.
"What?"
"There's something you need to hear."
Jack hands him the walkie and he says thank you and then calls for Tom. "Your plan killed seven of my people," Ben says. "But the ones that you failed to kill are now holding your friends, Jin, Sayid, Bernard, at gun point."
Jack hears them on the walkie. "And what's to stop me from snapping your neck?"
Into the walkie, Ben says, "Tom, unless you hear my voice in one minute, shoot all three of them."
Ben puts the walkie down and looks at his watch. "Bring me the phone, Jack. Forty seconds."
"No," Jack says. "I'm getting them off the island. All of them!"
"Let me ask you something, Jack. Why do you want to get off the island? What is it that you so desperately want to get back to? You have no one. Your father's dead, your wife left you, moved on with another man. Can you just not wait to get back to the hospital? Get back to fixing things?" He checks his walk. "It's 20 seconds now. Just get me the phone, Jack."
"No."
"Ten seconds. Bring me the phone. I'm not bluffing. Five-four-three-two-one."
Jack hears three gun shots over the walkie.
"I'm so sorry, Jack," Ben says and Jack attacks him. Jack jumps on top of Ben and beats him until he is barely alive. Jack picks up the walkie and says, "Tom, are you there?"
Tom says, "Yeah, Jack, I hear you."
"I'm going to lead my people up to the radio tower and I'm going to make a call. I'm going to get them rescued. Every one of them. And then I'm going to come find you, and I'm going to kill you."
