It appears that rather than flashbacks, Jack experienced flash forwards in this episode. These flashes are represented by italics.

Jack's Flash Forward - The Paper

Jack is on an Oceanic flight, drinking a cocktail. As a flight attendant goes down the row asking people to buckle their belts, he asks for another drink.

"I'm sorry, sir," she says. "We'll be landing in twenty minutes."

"Well twenty minutes is a long time," he says.

"How about a newspaper instead?" she says dryly as she hands him the paper.

They experience some turbulence and the pilot says they hit some warm air as they are making their decent into Los Angeles.

Jack looks over on the chair next to him where he'd put the newspaper. He sees something that catches his attention and he rips it out.

In Los Angeles, Jack drives across a bridge. He stops and looks at the newspaper clipping and cries. He calls and leaves a message, saying, "Hey, it's me. I, uh, I just read..." He hangs up.

Jack gets out of the car. He climbs up onto the ledge of the bridge and looks down. He leans his head back and closes his eyes. "Forgive me."

Before he jumps there is an accident behind him and a kid yells for his mom.

Keep Moving

Jack walks over to where Kate is getting water. They look at each other, then Kate looks over at Sawyer.

Jack goes to Sayid and asks if he has everything he needs.

"No," Sayid says, "but I've made the best out of what we have."

"Bernard and Jin?"

"They're both excellent shots, and highly motivated. The dynamite's in place. We won't miss," Sayid says. "Jack, no matter what happens here, I want you to keep moving. Keep moving for that radio tower. Don't turn back for any reason. I'm willing to give my life if it means securing rescue. But I'm not giving it up for nothing. You understand?"

"Yeah, I understand."

They shake hands and wish each other luck.

Dentist Not Rambo

To Bernard, Rose says, "If I told you I would help with your S.O.S. sign would you change your mind?"

"No, Ma'am," he says.

"Then I want you to say it again."

"Rose!"

"Say it, Bernard."

"I am a dentist. I am not Rambo."

"And don't you forget it."

They hug.

We Have to Go Home

Rousseau watches Hurley with Aaron. Hurley says to Claire, "Charlie's going to be fine."

She nods. "Yeah, of course he is."

Jin and Sun speak in Korean. "Stay close to Jack and rest if you feel tired," Jin says.

"Why are you doing this?" She is crying.

He holds her face and in English says, "Because, we have to go home."

Time to Go

"All right," Jack says, "let's do it!"

A large group follows Jack across the beach. Sayid, Bernard, and Jin stay behind.

Later, as they walk across a rocky beach, Naomi catches up to Jack and says, "Jack, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure," he says.

"What did you do for a living before you became Moses?"

He laughs. "I was a doctor."

"Right, of course you were. Well I need your attention for a moment, Doctor."

Jack and Juliet both stop and Naomi looks at her and says, "Is she okay?"

"Why wouldn't she be?" Jack asks.

"Because none of your people trust her." She looks at Juliet. "No offense."

Juliet looks at Jack. "You know what? Why don't you catch up to me when you're done."

"Juliet," Jack says.

"It's fine." Juliet walks off.

Naomi pulls out her satellite phone. "So I need to show you how this wonderful gadget works in case something happens to me. You need to be able to call my boat. Turn her on here. This opens a direct channel to the freighter. Give her a tap here, wait for the beep, and say hello."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

"Once the rock star turns off whatever underwater contraption is jamming us up, this red light will turn a lovely shade of green. That will be any time now, yeah?"

"Hopefully," Jack says.

The Yellow Light

The first woman we saw in The Looking Glass hits Charlie in the face. He is tied to a chair. Both women stand over him.

"Who are you?" The first woman says.

"Look," the second woman says, "if you tell us how you got down here, we won't hurt you."

"I came in my invisible submarine. Don't you see it?" Charlie says.

The first woman punches him.

"Hey!" the second woman says. "Take it easy."

"Take it easy? He's one of them! Why are you here? How did you find out about this station?"

"Juliet told us. She's one of us now, in case you haven't heard."

She hits him again and the other woman says, "Stop! We've got to call Ben."

"Let's call Ben," Charlie says.

They go into another room where Charlie sees a blinking yellow light and remembers what Desmond said about Charlie flipping a switch below a yellow blinking light.

It's Charlie

Ben sits in his tent and hears on his walkie-talkie, "Ben, come in, Ben."

"Hello?"

"It's Bonnie. Ben are you there? Can you hear me, Ben?"

"Why are you breaking radio silence?"

"One of them's down here," Bonnie says.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"We have him tied up, but he's here. One of them swam down here."

"Who? Which one?"

"He won't tell us."

"It's Charlie," Charlie yells. "Tell him I said hi!"

"How does he know about the station?"

"He said Juliet told them."

After a pause, Ben says, "All right, sit tight and don't do anything. I'm sending help."

To Mikhail he says, "Mikhail, you need to go down to The Looking Glass and find out what Charlie Pace is doing down there."

"You told us The Looking Glass was inoperable, flooded," Mikhail says.

"I lied," Ben says. "Mikhail, I need you to go, now!"

"I can be there by dawn. But if Juliet told them about The Looking Glass, what else did she tell them?"

Ben picks up the walkie. "Ryan, are you there?"
