Kate Finds Jack

It's nighttime and Locke looks through the binoculars. Kate and Sayid also watch, and Rousseau is gone. They see Jack and Juliet walk across a yard. They say goodbye and then Jack goes into a house.

Locke whispers, "Sayid, you guard the front. I'll go around back." He points to Kate, "You go in the side door."

"I'm going in alone?" Kate says.

"It's better if you're the first one he sees," Locke says.

"Alright."

They run toward the house. Sayid hides behind a tree. Kate goes to the side, where laundry is hanging on a line. She opens the door and goes into a hallway. She hears piano music and follows it down the hall. She is surprised to see Jack playing the piano. She watches for a bit, then walks into the room. He finishes, then turns around and sees her.

"Hi," she says.

"What are you doing here?" Jack asks.

"I came to get you."

"Get out of here! Right now, go!" he says.

"Jack."

"Kate, they're watching me! Get out of here!"

"I'm not leaving."

"Yes you are!"

Two men burst in with guns. Jack says not to hurt her and one of them says, "Step back, Doc."

Two more men come in with Sayid.

Kate is pushed to the ground and a man points his pistol at her. "Who else is with you?"

"Jack!"

"Just answer the question, Kate," Jack says.

The man asks again and Kate looks at Sayid, then says no one.

Submarine

Ben lays in a hospital bed in the dark. He hears a noise and raises the back of the bed. "Alex?" he says. He turns on the light and Locke comes toward him with a gun pointed at him. "John!"

John shushes him and tells him to keep his voice down.

"It's alright, John, you don't have to point the gun at me. I can tell you where Jack is."

Locke smirks. "I'm not looking for Jack. I'm looking for the submarine. Where is it?"

"I'm not sure what you mean, John," Ben says. "What submarine?"

"The one you use to travel to and from the island. The one your man Mikhail told me about, right before I killed him."
Outside a girl says, "Dad, who are you talking to?"

"Alex, don't come in here!" Ben says.

Alex opens the door and Locke grabs her. There is a knock from outside and Locke points the gun at Alex and says, "Tell her to be quiet."

"Alex, please," Ben says.

Outside the door, Tom says, "Ben, you awake?"

Locke drags Alex into the closet. Tom comes into Ben's room.

"What is it?" Ben asks.

"It's Austen and Jarrah," Tom says. "They're here. Somehow they found us."

"Where are they now?"

"We captured them. We're holding them over at my place. Want me to help you get out of there?"

"No. Separate them. I want to know how they found us."

"What about Juliet and Shephard, tomorrow morning-"

"Let me worry about that. Just go."

"Got it," Tom says.

Ben tells Richard to wait and Tom says he'll be outside. Richard Alpert comes into view and Ben says, "I want you to bring me the man from Tallahassee."

Locke's Flashback - Anthony Cooper

Locke goes into a flower shop and watches, hidden by some flowers. A woman looks at a flower arrangement and asks what her "Honey" thinks. Anthony comes over and asks what she thinks. She thinks it could be a bit larger and he agrees. He sees Locke and says he'll look over by where Locke is.

He walks over there and says hello and Locke wants to know if there'll be a big to-do or if it will just be the two of them and a preacher.

Anthony wants to know how Locke found out and Locke tells him about Peter Talbot coming to him. Anthony wants to know what Locke told Peter and Locke says that he wants Anthony to call it off "because it's not fair. You come into people's lives and make them feel like family." He says Anthony has to call it off or he will tell her the truth.

Anthony starts to walk away and Locke grabs him. "I want to hear you say it. You say you're going to leave."

"Okay, John, you got it," Anthony says.

Wheelchairs

Ben asks Locke to help him get into his chair. "No tricks, I promise. I just want some dignity. You of all people should know what it feels like to want some dignity."

Locke goes over to help him and Ben says thank you. Then he says, "So, John, how do you expect to pilot our submarine? It's a complicated piece of machinery. You don't just press submerge."

"For all you know, I was a commander in the navy," Locke says. "Put your arm around my neck," Locke says. "I'll lift you under your knees."

"What's in the pack, John?" Ben says. "If you met Mikhail that means you were in the communications station. Which means you found the explosives. So you're not planning to pilot the submarine anyway. You're planning to destroy it. I know you, John Locke."

"You don't know me at all."

"I know you were born in California. I know you were raised in foster care. I know you wasted a large part of your life in Tustin pushing papers at an industrial company that made boxes."

Locke looks intense.

Ben continues, "I know you spent the four years prior to arriving on this island in a wheelchair. And I know how you ended up in it."

Ben and Locke stare at each other. "Tell me, John, did it hurt?"

"I felt my back break," Locke says. "What do you think?"
