Super Sleuth Claire
Claire follows Desmond across a beach and over some rocks. He runs up to a rock and she comes over. "What the hell are you doing?""You followed me." There is a bird sitting on the rock. "Stay back."
"It's one of the birds."
Desmond tells her to stay back and goes and gets the bird.
"How did you know it was going to be here?" she asks.
"I didn't."
"Yes you did! That's what you and Charlie were arguing about. You knew!"
"How would I?" he asks.
"I don't know, but you walked straight here. You had no doubt about where you were going. You came right to this beach and right to this rock. And low and behold, there's the bird. What the hell is going on, Desmond?"
"See that rock over there? That's where Charlie slipped and fell in. He got pounded again and again by the rocks and broke his neck."
"What are you talking about?"
"That's where Charlie died."
Claire Knows About Charlie
Claire takes the bird back to the main beach and shows Charlie. "Look what Desmond found.""It does have a tag," Charlie says. "You were right."
They smile at each other and Claire says that Desmond told her everything about his visions.
"You don't believe all that, do you?" Charlie says.
Claire's Flashback - Pregnant
Now, with blond hair, Claire goes to visit her mother in the hospital. Her mother is still out and still has the tube in her mouth. "Now, who turned the tele off? Don't they know how much you love your nature shows?" Claire turns the television on and it's a bird show. "That's better. So how are you today, Mum? Did you have an okay night?"Claire fixes the blankets over her mother. "There's something I have to tell you. Something I should have told you a long time ago. I'm pregnant. I'm giving it away. It's for the best. I don't know how you did it, raising me alone. And I was just awful. So hard on you."
Claire leans down. "I'm so sorry, Mum. So sorry for all the awful things I said to you in the car, that I hated you and wished you weren't my mother, and I wished you were dead. It's all my fault. The accident and everything. I'm so sorry, Mum."
The Message
Charlie and Claire stand on the beach. Claire holds the bird and Charlie reads the letter she'd written:To whom it may concern, we are the survivors of Flight 815. We have survived on this island for 80 days. We were six hours into the flight when the pilot said we were off course and we turned back toward Fiji. We hit turbulence and crashed. We've been waiting here all this time. Waiting for rescue that has not come.Further down the beach, Sawyer reads a book. He stops and looks out across the ocean.
We do not know where we are. We only know that you have not found us.Desmond sits in his shelter.
We've done our best to live on this island. Some of us have come to accept we may never leave it. Not all of us have survived since the crash, but there is new life, and with it, hope.Jin and Sun care for Aaron.
We are alive. Please don't give up on us.Charlie rolls up the note. "It's perfect, Claire."
"You know, I'm not giving up on you either, Charlie. You're going to be okay. We'll get through this together."
Charlie attaches the note to the bird and Claire lets it go. It flies away, joining other birds.
The Barracks
On another part of the island, Kate watches birds fly over head."We're here," Sayid says and they ready their guns.
They see the utopian village. A person rides by on a bike. Kate sees Jack running towards them. She starts to call him and go to him, but Sayid holds her back. Jack looks behind him and keeps running toward them in the jungle. He catches a football and laughs, then throws the football back to Tom. He catches the football again and then spikes it as if making a touchdown.
