Desmond's jumps through time are show in bold.
Drowning
Desmond, looking worried, walks along the beach.Charlie and Hurley are in Sawyer's shelter looking through his stuff.
"Dude, I don't know about this," Hurley says.
"See, you're looking at this all wrong," Charlie says. "He would want us to do this."
"He'd want us to ransack his tent and take his stash? Yeah, that sounds exactly like Sawyer."
"Well he stole all this in the first place, I mean people need food. They need medical supplies. They need," Charlie picks up some magazines, "shocking amounts of pornography."
"Charlie," Desmond says as he walks up.
"Desmondo," Hurley says.
"I need you to come with me," Desmond says.
"You guys find Eko?" Hurley asks.
"Both of you," Desmond says.
They follow Desmond into the jungle. He takes them to Locke and Sayid.
"What happened?" Charlie asks.
"Eko is dead," Locke says.
"We found his body in the jungle," Sayid says. "Buried him yesterday."
"How did he die?" Charlie says.
Locke and Sayid look at each other, then Locke says, "The island killed him."
"What do you mean the island killed him?" Charlie says.
"You know what it means," Locke says. "With Jack gone the camp's on edge enough without having to worry about what's out here in the jungle. They're going to look to you two to see how to react. So when I tell everyone what happened, I need you two to help keep things calm."
Desmond looks around. Hurley sees that Desmond is looking around and asks if he's okay. "Hey, guys," Hurley says, "what's wrong with Desmond?"
Desmond takes off running, and the others follow him. He removes his shirt and shoes and swims out in the ocean.
"What's he doing?" Sayid asks.
"There's someone else out there," Locke says.
"Where's Claire?" Charlie says.
"She just went for a walk. I offered to watch the baby."
Charlie runs to the ocean as Desmond pulls Claire out.
Charlie asks if she's okay and if she's breathing. Desmond tells him to get back, that he knows what he's doing.
Desmond gives Claire CPR and she comes to. Charlie is right there and Desmond says she's all right and pushes him away.
"Hey, how did you know?" Charlie yells as Desmond walks away carrying Claire. "How did you know she was drowning?"
Hurley says, "I'll tell you how he knew. That guy, he sees the future, Dude."
Thank You, Desmond
Desmond sits on the beach looking at the picture of he and Penny with a marina in the background. Claire comes over. "She's beautiful," she says. "What's her name?""Penny. Penelope. How you feeling?"
"Still a little shaken up. I go swimming every day and the undertow just grabbed me. You know if you hadn't--"
Charlie walks up. "Claire, I thought you were only going to be five minutes. Aaron's starving."
She apologizes to Charlie and then to Desmond says, "I just wanted to say thank you. Just thank you so much for being there."
"It's my pleasure," Desmond says.
The Plan
"Locke doesn't know about anything except knives and fishing," Hurley says as he and Charlie walk through camp."There's nothing to know," Charlie says. "I don't buy all this precognitive insanity rubbish. Look, if the bearded wonder could see the future he wouldn't have ended up here, would he?""Well, whatever happened to him, we're going to have to find out what it is," Charlie says.
"You do realize," Hurley says, "he'll know your plan before you can come up with it, Dude?"
Charlie looks through Sawyer's stash and finds a bottle of whiskey. "In that case, we're going to have to get him really bloody drunk."
Hurley and Charlie approach Desmond on the beach. "Beautiful evening," Charlie says.
Hurley nudges Charlie and says, "Say it, Dude."
"This morning," Charlie says, "I'm sorry I wasn't more grateful. Thank you for helping Claire not drown."
"No harm done," Desmond says.
"I brought a peace offering," Charlie says and opens his backpack and pulls out the whiskey. "Make the truce official."
"I've spent a wee bit too much time drunk of late," Desmond says.
"Too good for us, brother?" Charlie says. "All right, fine, we'll take our whiskey and go somewhere else."
"What kind of whiskey is that?" Desmond asks.
"It's, uh, MacCutchin," Charlie says.
Desmond laughs. "All right, then. Let's have it."
Charlie hands him a cup, but he wants the bottle. "If you've come to drink, let's drink."
Desmond opens the bottle and laughs again. "Cheers." He drinks a long swig.
