Spying
Juliet quickly goes into the viewing room and looks at all the TVs until she see Sawyer, Kate, and Alex going through the jungle. "Oh, hell."Karl's Room
A man sits outside a building reading a book. "Karl's got to be in there," Alex whispers."What? You mean you ain't sure?" Sawyer says.
"It's the only place I haven't looked."
Kate wonders if Alex knows the guard and she says his name is Aldo.
"Okay, Lollipop, you want to tell me how we're going to get by him, one gun and no bullets?" Sawyer says.Kate has an idea. Kate and Sawyer approach the man with their hands tied behind their backs. Alex has the gun to them.
Aldo points a rifle at them and says, "Alex, what are you doing?"
She says she caught them in the jungle and tells him to open up. He is very jumpy and tells them to stop.
Aldo says, "Alex, you're not supposed to be here. If your dad finds out he's going to kill you."
She says her dad was the one who told her to bring them there and that he should just call him.
He gets on the walkie and says, "Danny, I need Ben. Alex is here and she's got--"
Sawyer gets his hands free and knocks Aldo down and takes the gun. Alex breaks the walkie.
Sawyer looks at Aldo and says, "Don't get mad at me, just becuase you were dumb enough to fall for the whole Wookie prisoner gag.""Where's Karl?" Alex asks, but Aldo says he has no idea what she's talking about.
Kate tells Sawyer to shoot him in the knee. "What?" Sawyer says. Kate says they don't have time for this, she takes the rifle and points it to Aldo's knee. He tells them Karl is at the end of the hall, room 23, the keys are in his back pocket. She knocks him out with the rifle.
They run into the building. "Damn good con, Freckles, I almost believed you were going to shoot that boy," Sawyer says.
"It wasn't a con," Kate says.
They find room 23 and force the door open. Loud music is playing and there is a screen with lots of images and words flashing by. Karl is hooked up to a chair with glasses on, being forced to watch the screen. Alex and Kate begin to get him loose, but Sawyer is mesmerized by the screen. Kate calls for help and it takes him a second to snap out of it.
Sawyer carries Karl out and asks Alex for the boat.
Let Them Go
Aldo lays on the ground and Danny slaps him. "Idiot! Where are they?"Juliet runs up. "Danny, we're letting them go."
He doesn't believe her. She tells him Ben gave the order, but he knows Ben is in surgery. She says he woke up.
Juliet tells him that Jack won't finish the surgery unless they let Sawyer and Kate go. "Do you want Ben to die?"
Pickett says, "I know Ben would rather die than let them go." He pulls his gun and walks away.
Juliet's Flashback - Pregnancy
Juliet walks into an apartment and Rachel is sitting on the back of the couch. She asks how the interview went and Juliet says, "It's not for me.""What?" Rachel says.
"It's fine, we're too far away, it's Portland."
Rachel hopes Juliet didn't say no because of her.
"No, why would I want to go all the way to Portland for research that doesn't even work."
Rachel smiles. "Because it does work. I'm pregnant."
She shows her the pregnancy test. They hug and they both cry.
"My whole life all I wanted to do was have a baby," Rachel says, "and now because of you I can. Now I just need to get healthy so I can see the little bugger get into an ivy league school. Now you can tell that bastard ex-husband of yours what he can do with his ethics."
Juliet's Flashback - Watch for Buses
Edmund Burke walks outside, talking into a cell phone. "Because you're insufferable and you're mean. Well, you asked me for the truth, Mom."Juliet comes up and he tells his mom he'll have to call her later.
"She's pregnant, it worked, Rachel's pregnant," Juliet says.
He wants to see her labs and verify the data. Juliet says no, she's not interested in publishing. He steps out into the street and stops. "Fine, then why are you concerned--" He is hit by a bus.
Juliet is distraught and people run to the bus.
