Let it Go

Jack catches dripping water in his mouth, then spits it out. Static comes over the intercom and it sounds like his father saying, "Let it go, Jack."

The lights go on and Juliet is on the other side of the glass enclosure with a sandwich and a Dharma water bottle. "I know you're hungry," she says, "I brought this for you."

She instructs him to sit across from the door with his back against the wall so that she can open the door and put the tray down.

He doesn't want her food. "I want you to tell the guy that's trying to talk to me through that intercom that he can give it up."

She says he must be hungrier than he thinks because the intercom hasn't worked in years. He asks about the button behind her and she says it's for emergencies.

"Who's watching me?" he asks.

She asks again about the food and he tells her she can have it. She asks what his profession is.

Pacing, Jack says he's a repo man. She asks if he's married and he says he never saw the point. He asks her job.

"When your plane crashed," she says, "where were you flying from?"

"Sydney. I was bringing my father home."

She asks why he would go all the way to Australia.

"Because he was dead."

She apologizes. She says he can trust her. "I'm not going to hurt you."

He comes up to the other side of the glass where she is and says, "What the hell is going on here?"

She walks out, eating the sandwich.

Sawyer's Escape

Sawyer tries to figure out how he can push the levers in the cage to get food. The boy in the other cage says, "Hey, how long would it take to get to your camp?"

"What, you talking to me now, Chachi?"

He wants to know how long the walk to his camp is and what the people are like from the plane.

Sawyer talks about being tortured by an Iraqi. He turns to look at the guy and the cage is empty and the door is open. The guy comes out right in front of Sawyer's cage and opens the door. The recorded voice says, "Subject escape, subject escape."

He tells Sawyer which way to run, then takes off in the other direction. Sawyer comes out into the jungle and Juliet shoots him with a dart. He falls to the ground, convulsing.

Tom and another guy throw him back into the cage. Tom brings the other escapee to the outside of Sawyer's cage and says, "Say it, Karl."

"I'm sorry I involved you in my breakout attempt," Karl says.

Instead of putting Karl back into his cage, they take him with them.

Dehydration

Juliet brings more food and tells Jack, "The drugs we gave you when we brought you here have a fairly serious side effect, dehydration. Your head is probably sore, your throat is raw, and if you don't eat or drink something soon, you're going to start hallucinating."

"So you're a doctor?"

"No," she says, "I'm a repo woman."

She tells him there are no strings attached to the food. He doesn't have to answer any questions or do anything but sit with his back against the far wall.

Jack gets up and goes to the far wall.

Jack's Flashback - Christian's Phone Call

Jack talks to a nurse over a patient and sees his father in the hallway talking to other doctors. Christian's phone rings and Jack's full attention is on his father. He doesn't answer the nurse's questions.

Christian laughs and talks and Jack looks angry.

He follows his father to a hotel and sees him go into a room. He follows him into the room and Christian looks surprised to see him. "Give me your cell phone," Jack says.

"Look where you are," Christian says.

It's a support group meeting. Christian says this is not the time. The moderator says, "You must be Jack. Why don't you grab a chair and join us."

Jack looks around. "You know me?"

"Yes. Your father's told us all about you."

"What'd you tell them about me, Dad? That your son never really had it, not like the old man. I didn't have the will to make it work? My life, my job, my marriage. What'd you tell them about my marriage, Dad?" He looks at the moderator. "You know how he manages his marriage? A bottle of scotch every night before dinner."
"Your father has been sober 50 days, now," she says. "We're very proud of that."

Jack laughs. "Wow, Dad. I wonder what helped you turn that corner. You think it was a new lady friend--"

"I will not let you talk to me like that," Christian says.

"I will not let you sleep with my wife!"

"Jack, I'm your father. Jack, please, just let it go."
