The Lie

Episode 5x2, The Lie
On Penny's boat, Jack tells them that they have to lie to protect those who stayed behind on the island. Sayid says it's a decision that will affect the rest of their lives and he won't make it lightly. He does finally agree to the lie.

Oceanic 6

Episode 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1 - Flash Forward 1
Ms. Decker, a representative for Oceanic Airways, comes into the cargo area where the Oceanic Six sit. "We're coming in for a landing. It's a military facility just west of Honolulu." She looks around at those in the cargo area. Jack looks to be dozing. Sun, Hurley, Sayid, and Kate look depressed. Kate is holding Aaron.

Ms. Decker continues, "It's completely private. Your families are already here. Now, there's a lot of press that want to speak to you, but as far as Oceanic is concerned, you don't have to speak to any reporters."

"We'll talk to them," Jack says.

"Is that alright with all of you?" she asks. She looks around, but no one answers.

"It's fine," Jack says, "we all agreed. We just want to get it over with."

"Okay. They're referring to you as the Oceanic Six. That's not the best branding as far as we're concerned, but it's catchy. We'll see you on the ground."

She makes her way back to the cockpit.

"We all know the story," Jack says. "We get any questions that we don't want to answer or that we can't answer, let's just keep our mouths shut. It's okay, they'll think that we're in shock."

"We are in shock, Jack," Sun says.

"Well, then, this should be easy."

The plane lands, but none of them look happy. They unbuckle and when the doors open, there are people waiting for them.

Hurley walks out first and waves. He runs to his mom and hugs her. Sun hugs her mother while her father looks on. Jack hugs his mother. Kate looks around. Hurley grabs Sayid and introduces him to his mother, Carmen, who hugs and kisses Sayid.

Press Conference

Episode 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1 - Flash Forward 2
Sitting in front of microphones and the press, the Oceanic Six don't look too happy. The woman who was on the plane with them, Ms. Decker, says, "Based on the location of the wreckage, our best estimate of the crash site is here." She points to a map. "From there, the survivors were carried by the ocean's current to here, an uninhabited island in the lesser Sunda island, known as Membata.

"As you all read in your briefing books, on day 103, a typhoon washed up the remnants of an Indonesian fishing boat, including basic supplies and a survival raft. On day 108, the remaining six survivors, including Ms. Austen's baby, which she gave birth to on the island of Membata, used this raft to journey here, an island called Sumba.

"They then came ashore near a village called Manukangga. This photo was taken by the local fishermen who found them. Once it was discovered who they were, they were transported to Honolulu by the U.S. Coast Guard. As you can imagine, this has been an extraordinarily trying experience. They have, however, agreed to answer a few questions. So, ladies and gentlemen, the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815."

Reporters begin yelling their names. One man stands and says, "Dr. Shephard, can you tell us what it was like when the plane hit the ocean? Uh, how you survived?"

Jack says, "Um, it all happened really fast. I remember the impact." Sun looks at Jack. "I remember the plane filling up with water. A group of us got to the emergency door and, um, got out before it went down."

"And those of you who survived, you swam to the island?"

Jack says, "No. We had cushions. We had some life jackets. We were in the water for over a day before the current took us in. By then there were only eight of us left."

A woman stands. "Over here, please. Considering the ordeal that you've all been through, you look pretty healthy for having been on an island for more than 100 days."

Hurley says, "Was that directed at me, dude?"

Carmen and David look at each other and chuckle.

The reporter says, "Well, actually, Mr. Reyes, you were worth more than 150 million dollars at the time of your," she pauses, "death. How does it feel to know you're going to get all that money back?"

"I don't want it back," he says. "Any of it. That money was bad luck."

A woman stands and speaks in Korean. Someone yells, "Can somebody translate that?"

Sun leans into the microphones. "She asked if my husband was one of the people who died on the island."

Jack looks over at Sun, looking concerned. After a pause, Sun says, "The answer is no. He never made it off the plane."

A man stands and says, "Ms. Austen, what was it like giving birth on the island?"

"Scary," Kate says.

"Your son, uh, Aaron? How old is he now?"

"He's just a little over five weeks."

"So that would have made you about six months pregnant when the U.S. Marshal service apprehended you in Australia for an outstanding murder warrant. Is that correct?"

Ms. Decker says, "Uh, I'm afraid Ms. Austen's legal issue is off the table. Next question."

A woman stands. "Mr Jarrah, given the amazing circumstances surrounding the survival of you six, is it possible there are any other survivors of the crash yet to be discovered?"

"No," Sayid says, "absolutely not."

As they walk out of the press conference, Ms. Decker stops Sayid and says, "Mr. Jarrah, there's a woman outside. She says she knows you, but she's not on the list of family members. Her name's Noor Abed Jazeem." Sayid looks startled. He goes out and finds Nadia. "Nadia?"

She begins to cry and he hugs and kisses her.
