Jack and KateEpisode 4x10, Something Nice Back Home - Flash Forward 1
Jack is asleep in a bed. The phone rings and he wakes and answers. "Hello." He looks at his watch.
"Dr. Shephard," the woman on the other end of the phone says, "just confirming your eleven o'clock consult."
Jack puts his watch down.
"It was moved up yesterday and I know how you are with your calendar."
"Yeah, yeah, I remember, Jane. I'll, um, I'll be in there."
"Thank you, Doctor."
Jack gets out of bed and wraps a towel around his waist. He picks up some panties from the floor and then goes into the kitchen. He steps on a toy. He takes two wine glasses and puts them in the sink, then makes coffee. He picks up the paper and reads, "Yankees bludgeon Red Sox in series sweep."
He goes into the bathroom where a woman is in the shower. He opens the shower door. "Good morning."
"Good morning, yourself. I bought you a razor."
"What? You don't like the scruff?"
She laughs. "Razor's by the sink, Jack"
He looks at the razor and when she turns off the shower, he grabs a towel and holds it for her. He opens the door and Kate steps out. They kiss.
Later, Jack reads to Aaron as he lays in his bed. "Alice took up the fan and gloves, and, as the hall was very hot, she kept fanning herself all the time she went on talking: 'Dear, dear! How queer everything is today! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I've been changed in the night?'"
Jack notices Kate watching him from the doorway. He continues to read. "'Let me think, was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!'"
Jack puts the book away, turns off the light, and goes out. Kate closes the door. They stand in the hallway. "You're a natural," Kate says.
"My old man used to read me that story."
"Really?" Kate smiles.
"It's just sweet hearing you say nice things about your dad."
"I don't say nice things about my dad?"
She shakes her head.
"Well, he was a good storyteller, I'll give him that. Hey, you okay?" He rubs her arms.
"Yeah. It's just, I love seeing you with him. I'm so glad you changed your mind. I'm so glad that you're here."
"Me too." He kisses her.
A Call From Santa RosaEpisode 4x10, Something Nice Back Home - Flash Forward 2
Jack walks down the hospital hallway talking with a woman. "Don't worry, Mrs. Baronberg, you're in good hands."
"I'll see you tomorrow at 5 a.m. And remember, no solid food."
After saying goodbye, Jack sees his father, Christian Shephard, walk by.
"Jack," a woman says. "Jack?"
He turns and looks at her. "Will you take a look at this x-ray?" she asks. "It's in the L-4. Tell me what you think."
The receptionist says, "Dr. Shephard, there's a call for you. It's a Doctor Stillman from Santa Rosa hospital. Says it's about a friend of yours."
We're All DeadEpisode 4x10, Something Nice Back Home - Flash Forward 3
Jack walks down the hallway of Santa Rosa with Dr. Stillman. The doctor says, "He's refusing to take his meds and he's stopped sleeping."
"What about his therapy sessions?"
"Therapy's been rendered useless."
"And why's that?"
"Because he doesn't think I exist."
Jack goes into Hurley's room alone.
Staring straight ahead, Hurley says, "Hey, Jack."
Jack sits. "Why aren't you taking your meds?"
"Because we're dead. All of us. All the Oceanic Six, we're all dead. We never got off that island."
"Hurley, that is not true."
"What'd you do today?"
"What did I do today? I woke up, I took a shower, Kate and I fed the baby."
"I thought you didn't want anything to do with Aaron."
"I changed my mind after the trial."
"Living with Kate. Taking care of Aaron. It all seems so perfect. Just like Heaven."
"Just because I'm happy doesn't mean that this isn't real."
"I was happy too, Jack, for awhile anyway. Then I saw Charlie. He likes to sit with me on the bench out on the front lawn. Pretty cool, actually."
"Okay, so what do you two talk about?"
"Well yesterday he told me that you were going to be coming by. He wanted me to give you a message."
Hurley opens a drawer and pulls out a piece of paper. "He made me write it down so I wouldn't mess it up." Hurley reads from the paper, "You're not supposed to raise him, Jack."
Jack gets up.
Hurley says, "Does that make any sense?"
"No, that doesn't make any sense."
"You think he means Aaron?"
"Take your meds, Hurley. Just take them." Jack opens the door.
"Hey, Jack," Hurley says, "Charlie said someone was going to be visiting you too. Soon."
A Second Marriage?Episode 4x10, Something Nice Back Home - Flash Forward 4
Jack sits in his car outside Santa Rosa Mental Hospital at night. He starts his car and drives home. Kate is asleep in bed and he wakes her up.
"Hey," she says, "what time is it?"
"It's late. I just got home."
"Were you working?"
"I had to stop and get something. It just took awhile."
"Hey, what's wrong?"
Jack is very emotional and says, "The other night, when I was reading to Aaron, you said I was a natural. Do you really, do you really think that I'm good at this?"
"Yeah. You're good at this."
"Will you marry me?" He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a case with a diamond ring in it.
With tears rolling down her face, Kate says, "Yes."
He slides the ring on her finger.
"Of course I will," she says. "Yes."
