Charlie
Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End - Flash Forward 3Hurley is outside at the mental institution. He's painting a picture of a man bundled against the snow outside an igloo.
Someone walks by and says, "I'd watch out if I were you."
"What are you talking about, Dude?"
"There's a guy over there staring at you."
Hurley looks over. It's Charlie. "Hey man, don't run." Hurley gets up and Charlie says, "Hurley, just sit down. I want to talk to you. Come on, don't do what you did in the store. There' s no need to freak out."
"No need to freak out? I'm trying to buy some jerky and a slushy and suddenly you're standing over by the Ho-Hos. You're dead, what do you expect me to do?"
"Just sit down," Charlie calmly says.
"I may be in a mental hospital, but I know you're dead and I'm not having an imaginary conversation with you."
Charlie takes off his sunglasses and says, "I am dead. But I'm also here."
"Okay, prove it."
Charlie slaps him and hurts him.
"Okay, okay," Hurley says. "Did you know you were going to die when you swam out there?"
Charlie nods.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you would have tried to stop me. And since I was going to do it anyway, I thought I would spare you from all the drama. But now you've got to do something for me. You've been hiding from it. That's the real reason you ran when you saw me in the store. You knew I was here to tell you."
"I'm not listening to this." He puts his hands over his ears. "You're not here."
"I am here. You're being a baby."
"I'm going to count to five and close my eyes and when I open them you'll be gone."
"I am here."
"One."
"Don't do this."
"Two."
"They need you."
"Three."
"They need you, Hugo."
"Four."
"You know they need you!"
"Five." He opens his eyes and Charlie is gone.
Jack Visits Hurley
Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End - Flash Forward 4Hurley shoots baskets in the empty hospital gym.
"Do you ever miss?"
Hurley turns around to see that Jack has walked into the room. "Jack?"
"Yeah, I was on my way back from a consult. Thought I'd drop buy and pay you a visit. HORSE?"
"You're on," Hurley says. He sets up for his shot. "So, consult, huh? Does that mean you're back doing surgical stuff?" He shoots and makes the basket.
"Yeah." Jack shoots and misses. "H."
"Reporters leaving you alone?" Hurley makes another basket.
"Yeah. Still have to sign some autographs when I go out for coffee." Jack misses again. "I'm thinking about growing a beard."
"You'd look weird with a beard, Dude. That's H-O." Hurley dribbles. "So, what are you really doing here, Jack?"
"I was just checking on you, seeing if everything's okay."
"Checking to see if I went nuts. To see if I was going to tell."
"Are you?"
"You're up."
"Nah, you win. I got to run. It was great seeing you, Hurley."
"I'm sorry," Hurley says. "I'm sorry I went with Locke. I should have stayed with you."
"Water under the bridge, man."
"I don't think we did the right thing, Jack. I think it wants us to come back and it's going to do everything it can."
"We're never going back!" Jack walks to the door.
"Never say never, Dude."
Walt
Episode 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2 - Flash Forward 2In the Santa Rosa Mental Hospital, Hurley unwraps a fruit bar. A nurse bring Michael's mother to Hurley. "Are you Hurley?" she says.
"Yeah," he says.
"Are you dangerous?"
"I'm sorry, do I know you?"
"No, you don't know me. But you know my grandson." Hurley looks behind her and sees Walt by a door. "Now we've traveled all the way across the country, just so he can see you. I need to know if you're going to do anything crazy."
"I won't do anything crazy."
She waves Walt over and he sits across from Hurley. "Hey, Walt."
"Hey, Hurley."
"You're getting big, Dude."
"You know, when you came back, I was waiting for one of you to come see me. But nobody did."
"Sorry."
"Do you know who did come see me? Jeremy Bentham. I don't understand why you're all lying."
Hurley looks around, then leans toward Walt. "We're lying because it's the only way to protect everyone who didn't come back."
"Like my dad," Walt says.
"Like your dad. Yeah."
The Safe House
Episode 5x1, Because You LeftSayid and Hurley go to what Hurley believes is a safe house. Sayid tells Hurley to wait outside and a man attacks Sayid. Sayid throws him over the balcony and goes inside and fights another man. Hurley picks up the gun and looks over the balcony. Some people see him and one snaps a picture on a camera phone. The other man shoots Sayid with a dart just before Sayid kills him. Sayid tells Hurley to get him to the car.
