Car Chase

Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End - Flash Forward 1
There is a pile of fruit with the ocean in the background. Suddenly a car blows through the fruit and we see that the ocean is just a picture on the side of a truck. Police cars chase the car, a red Camaro.

In a building, a man pours alcohol into a glass. When he drinks it, we see that it's Jack, clean shaven and looking respectable. The news is on a small TV and when the reporter mentions the 1970's Camaro, Jack says to himself, "Damn it."

The car is forced off the road and the driver gets out. It's Hurley. The police tell him to get on the ground, but he tries to make a run for it. As the police grab him he says, "Don't you know who I am? No, wait! Don't you know who I am? You don't understand. I'm one of the Ocean Six! I'm one of the Oceanic Six!"

Hurley is in an interrogation room. Big Mike is questioning him. Big Mike says, "So, five minutes before you led 10 cruisers on a chase across the city, you're minding your own business in a convenience store, until, you see something and freak out."

Hurley and Mike are watching video from the store surveillance camera. Hurley is about to pay for his stuff when he looks to his left, gets really scared, backs up, knocking over a display, and runs out.

"Mr. Reyes, why'd you run like that? Who'd you see in there?" Big Mike leans on the table. "Listen, buddy, I know you saw somebody in that store that made you want to run away-"

"I wasn't running away from anybody."

"If you think I care that you're a celebrity, you crashed your Camaro in the wrong neighborhood."

"I'm not a celebrity."

Mike chuckles. "Is that why you kept shouting, 'Hey, I'm one of the Oceanic Six'?"

Hurley looks down.

"You want to know a funny coincidence?" Mike asks. "I knew somebody on your plane. Her name was Ana-Lucia Cortez. She was my partner before I made detective. Dark hair, gorgeous. Maybe you knew her. Maybe you met her on the plane, before it took off?"

"Sorry, never met her," Hurley lies.

"Why don't you watch the tape, maybe it will spark something. I'm going to get a donut. You want one?"

"No thanks," Hurley says.

"When I come back, you're going to tell me who you ran from."

Hurley watches the tape and then glances over at the window. He looks back to the tape and then to the window, which now has the ocean on the other side. Charlie swims over, touches the window and it breaks, spilling water into the room. Hurley starts yelling and runs to the door, yelling for them to help him.

Big Mike comes in and says, "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Hurley turns around. There is no water in the room and the window is normal.

"What are you doing, Reyes?" Mike says. "You trying to get tossed in the nut house? Because if that's what you want I can make that happen right now, my friend!"

"You can?" Hurley says. "Thank you!" He hugs Mike.

Matthew Abbadon

Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End - Flash Forward 2
Hurley releases the Connect Four pieces and says to his opponent in the mental hospital, "You almost got me that time. How about best out of 7?"

"Are you ready for your meds, Hugo?" an orderly asks. Hurley gladly takes the meds. "Oh, by the way," she says, "you have a visitor." She points to a man at another table who gives Hurley a wave.

Hurley goes over and the man stands up and shakes Hurley's hand. "Mr. Reyes, hello. My name is Matthew Abbadon. I'm an attorney for Oceanic Airways. Can we talk for a few minutes?"

"Okay." They sit.

"I'm here, Mr. Reyes, because we heard about your recent episode, your arrest, your incarceration here. Frankly, we feel terrible about it. So, on behalf of Oceanic, I'd like to extend an invitation for an upgrade."

"What kind of an upgrade?"

"To a facility where the paint isn't peeling off the walls. Where you'd have your own bathroom. You can see the ocean from it."

Hurley says, "I don't want to see the ocean."

"No problem."

"Actually, thanks, I'm fine right here."

"Are you fine, Mr. Reyes?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're in a mental institution."

"Who'd you say you were again? I'd like to see a business card."

He reaches into his pocket and then says, "I must have left them at home."

"What?"

He stands up. "You heard me."

Hurley runs to the other side of the room. "Nurse! Nurse! Get out of here! You better get out of here! He's after me."

Matthew walks out.
