Taco Night
Episode 3x6, I Do - Flashback Scene 4Kate walks through a grocery store. Her cell phone rings and she smiles. "Hey, you," she says.
On the other end, Kevin sits in a car in the rain. "Hey, what's for dinner, gorgeous?"
"It's taco night."
"You're making tacos?"
She laughs and says, "Yes, and you better like them."
"Or what?"
"Or no dessert. I'm leaving now, I'll be home soon."
"Love you."
"I love you, too," she says.
She takes her bags and runs through the rain to a phone booth. She puts money into the pay phone and dials a number. She sets a timer and puts it above the phone.
The Marshal answers the phone, "Agent Mars."
"It's me," she says.
He snaps up his head and he signals for another man to trace the call. "I'm glad, I realized today that it was the Feast of the Essentials and I was feeling bad. A lot of holy days have come and gone since you last called, and I thought you and I were friends."
"I don't want to run anymore."
"What's his name?" he asks. "Does he know who you are?"
"Edward, please, I know you don't want to spend the rest of your life chasing me. Please, just let me go."
"I'll tell you what, if you can really stay put, really settle down, then I'll stop chasing you. But you and I both know, that's not going to happen."
The timer goes off and Kate jumps. She hangs up the phone.
Honeymoon
Episode 3x6, I Do - Flashback Scene 5Kate, wearing an apron, puts a plate of french toast in front of Kevin. It has a happy face on it and he smiles and says, "Very nice."
She laughs. He says, "Okay, now it's your turn. Look under your placemat."
"What did you do?" She pulls two Oceanic tickets out and asks what they are.
"You know that honeymoon I've been promising you for six months? You are holding in your hand, two tickets to Costa Rica. So get your passport ready, baby."
Kate looks anxious.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asks.
"Nothing," she says. "I just love you so much."
Kate stands in the door as he gets into his police car. She smiles and waves while he drives off, then her smile fades.
Kate Runs
Episode 3x6, I Do - Flashback Scene 6Kate looks at a pregnancy test and sees that she's not pregnant.
Kate brings Kevin a drink as he works at a computer. She asks what he's working on.
He's finishing some paperwork on a fugitive recovery in Tampa. "That's what being a cop is, just endless paperwork."
"What if I told you I was a fugitive?" Kate asks, her eyes filling with tears. "What if I told you I was on the run for blowing up my father and it was only a matter of time before you found out?"
"This isn't funny."
"It's not a joke. I almost had a baby, Kev. Me, a baby! I can't do this. Taco night? I don't do taco night."
"Calm down, Monica."
"My name's not Monica. I love you, but I can't stay." She starts to walk away.
Kevin gets up, but can't stand. "Something's wrong with me."
"I drugged you. I had to. Otherwise they would think you knew. People are going to be asking a lot of questions and I don't want you to lose your job." He falls to the ground.
She takes the necklace out of her pocket and puts it in his hand. She kisses him.
Hotel
Episode 1x22, Born to Run - Flashback Scene 1We see a corn field, then a car drives up to a motel. A blond gets out and opens the trunk. She pulls back the carpeting to reveal a bunch of license plates and switches the Nebraska plate with one in the trunk.
A family leaves their hotel room as a maid is walking along with a cart. The maid goes into the room next door and the blond woman grabs a towel and shampoo and goes into the hotel room just vacated by the family. She puts up the Do Not Disturb sign and takes a shower. When she comes out, the blond is gone and we see that she's Kate.
She goes to the office and says that there should be a letter for her. The guy behind the counter asks her name and she says, "Joan Hart." He hands her a letter and then we see the license plate, which says, Ohio: the heart of it all.
Kate reads the letter and cries. She holds a stack of 20 dollar bills.
Tom
Episode 1x22, Born to Run - Flashback Scene 2Kate carries a bouquet of flowers into a hospital and asks a nurse for Diane Jansen. The nurse says she just came up from ICU and gives her the room number.
Kate sees an officer sitting in front of the room and she puts the flowers up to hide her face and walks right by him.
Later, a doctor gets into his car. Kate is in the back seat. "Hey, Tom."
At first he's startled, but then he says, "Oh, Katie. What are you doing here?"
She explains that Diane is dying of cancer and she thought she owed it to her to come see her. Tom heard and he's sorry. Kate says she needs his help.
Digging
Episode 1x22, Born to Run - Flashback Scene 3Kate is in a kitchen. Tom is on the phone and she looks at photos on the refrigerator. She picks one up of Tom with a toddler. When Tom gets off the phone he says the boy's name is Connor. He's 22 months old.
She says the boy is beautiful and Tom says it's because of Rachael. Kate asks where Rachael is and he says in Cedar Rapids visiting her folks. They'll be back on Sunday.
"I got Diane in for an MRI," he says. "The appointment's not until 5 a.m., so we've got about 3 hours to kill."
Kate is appreciative. She says, "Do you think it's still there?"
"It's the middle of the night, Katie," he says. She says they may not get another chance.
The two drive out under a big tree. They pull shovels from the car, count off six paces, then start digging.
