Closed Factory
Episode 1x17, In Translation - Flashback Scene 4Jin is blindfolded and Sun leads him to the table. She removes the blindfold to reveal a feast. "You made this?" he asks.
"I thought we could enjoy a meal. Together," Sun says.
Jin is happy. His cell phone rings and he puts it away without answering it. "Don't worry. No work tonight." Sun thanks him.
The house phone rings and Jin answers it. Sun looks sad.
Jin goes to Mr. Paik's office. "Why is my factory closed? I'm losing millions because you were too incompetent to deliver a simple message."
Jin is confused. Mr. Paik says, "You'll be driving my associate to Byung Han's house tonight. He'll show you how to deliver a message."
In front of Byung Han's house the associate tells Jin to keep the motor running and when he returns to only drive the speed limit and take the car to the riverbank.
After the associate enters the house, Jin bursts in and begins beating Byung Han. "The factory opens tomorrow," Jin says. Before he leaves he whispers to Byung, "I just saved your life."
Panda
Episode 4x7, Ji Yeon - Flashback Scene 1Jin goes into a toy store and frantically looks around. The clerk asks if he can help him find something and Jin says he needs a panda. The man shows him to a big stuffed panda bear.
Jin says he'll take it. The man asks if he would like it gift-wrapped and Jin says, "No, I have to get to the hospital."
"Maternity ward?"
"Yes." Jin pays.
"You must be very happy. Boy or girl?"
"I don't know yet."
"Don't worry. Everyone loves a panda."
Jin's phone rings and he says he'll be right there. He grabs the panda and runs out.
Year of the Dragon
Episode 4x7, Ji Yeon - Flashback Scene 2Jin runs out of the toy store and calls for a taxi. He opens the taxi door and puts the panda inside. His phone rings and he answers it, saying he'll be right there. Another man bumps into him, causing him to drop his phone. The phone is run over and Jin picks it up. The man gets in the taxi and it drives off, with the panda bear still inside.
Jin yells, "Stop! You bastard! I will kill you! I will find you! I will hunt you down and rip your head off!" He throws the phone on the ground and goes back into the toy store. He searches for another panda, then goes to the clerk and asks about one. The clerk says that he had bought the last one.
Jin sees another panda behind the counter, but the clerk says that one is on hold and has already been paid for. The man picks up a dragon and says, "What about this? In the year of the dragon, it brings good luck."
Jin slams a bunch of money onto the counter and says he needs a panda. The man gives him the panda and says, "Don't lose this one."
Ambassador of China
Episode 4x7, Ji Yeon - Flashback Scene 3Jin runs into the hospital and the nurse points him to the maternity ward. He goes to a man standing in front of a door and bows. "I am Jin-Soo Kwon. I represent Paik Automotive. I heard the Ambassador is now a grandfather. I came to present a gift."
"Wait here," the man says, but before he goes into the room, Jin asks if it's a boy or a girl. "A boy."
The man goes into the room and Jin puts down a pink ribbon and ties a blue ribbon around the panda's neck.
Another man walks out of the room and Jin bows. "Mr. Ambassador, this panda is a symbol of Mr. Paik's eagerness to do business in the great country of China. Please accept his congratulations."
"Thank Mr. Paik for me. Tell him I'll call."
As Jin walks out of the hospital, the woman that pointed him to the maternity ward says, "Back so soon?"
"It wasn't my baby."
"Well, maybe someday."
"Don't rush me," he says. "I've only been married two months."
Jae Lee
Episode 3x2, The Glass Ballerina - Flashback Scene 3Jin walks into Mr. Paik's office and says, "You wanted to see me, sir?"
He asks Jin to sit down, then slides a file to him. Jin opens it to see Jae.
"This man has been stealing from me," Mr. Paik says. "I need you to put an end to it."
"What did he steal?"
"That's not important."
"I'll deliver a message," Jin says.
"I message will not suffice," Mr. Paik says. "I need you to put an end to it."
Jin struggles and says he can't do that. It's not what his job is. Mr. Paik says that his job is whatever he tells him to do.
"Then I can't work for you anymore. I quit."
"You don't get to quit! This man shamed me! You married my daughter. That makes you my son." He puts his hand on Jin's shoulder. "My shame is your shame. I need you to restore our family's honor." He hands Jin the file.
The End of Jae
Episode 3x2, The Glass Ballerina - Flashback Scene 5Jin sits outside a hotel and sees Jae. He follows him into the hotel and beats him up.
"Do you know why I'm here?" Jin says.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Jae says.
Jin holds a pillow and gun to Jae's head, but can't shoot. He tells him to leave the country and never come back. "Start a new life, and if you have any contact at all, I will finish this. You don't exist!"
Jin goes out and sits in his car.
Jae lands on his windshield, dead. He's clutching the pearls he had tried to give to Sun.
