Sodding Tire
Episode 3x21, Greatest Hits - Flashback 1Two men sit in a van listening to music while Charlie and Liam are out in the rain. Charlie tries to change a tire, while Liam watches.
Charlie can't do it and swears. "Why are we even doing this?" he asks Liam.
"Chin up, mate, we're headlining," Liam says.
"Headlining?" Charlie says they are playing in the ass end of nowhere.
"A gig's a gig. We're building a fan base."
Charlie kicks the tire. "Will our fan base buy us a new sodding tire?"
Liam says they should get on with it and Charlie says he quits. He says there is nothing to give up on. "We're broke. The album's not selling. We're a joke!"
One of the men in the van tells them to listen. Their song, Y'All Everybody, is playing on the radio.
"That's us!" Charlie says. "We're on the radio."
"That we are," Liam says.
"We're on the bloody radio!" Charlie says and they jump up and down.
Liam picks Charlie up and swings him around. "I told you, baby brother, we're going to be bloody rock stars!"
DriveShaft
Episode 1x7, The Moth - Flashback 2"Come on, Charlie! You are bloody DriveShaft." Liam tries to convince Charlie to stay in the band. Liam promises that they'll look out for each other because that's what brothers do. Charlie finally agrees, but makes Liam promise that if things get too crazy they'll just walk away.
The Ring
Episode 3x21, Greatest Hits - Flashback 3Charlie is in bed with two women. They are all asleep and Liam comes in and jumps on the bed saying that Christmas is here.
Charlie wakes up and Liam says, "Are these the birds from row two?"
Charlie laughs.
"Well done, mate."
Charlie gets out of bed and Liam says, "Well as you have spent another year as the only drug free rock star in the world, I'm going to share a little known fact with you. Father Christmas lives just down the street from here. In case you haven't noticed, baby brother, Finland is the bloody North Pole. Therefore I have a very special gift for you this year." Liam takes off his DS ring.
"Liam, no. Mom gave you that. You're the first born. It was her father's and his father's before that."
"And it's a family heirloom and that's why we named the band after Dexter bloody Stratton, I know. But, Charlie, let's be honest. We both know that I'm a sodding mess. But you, you're going to get married, have a family, a baby. I'll be lucky if I hit 30. The ring has to stay in the family, Charlie. So please, take it. Mom would want it this way. Pass it on to your little one someday. I need to know it's safe."
Charlie nods. "I'll hold onto it. But I won't take it." He puts it on. "Hey, it fits, look at that."
"Happy Christmas, baby brother."
Drugs
Episode 1x7, The Moth - Flashback 3Charlie and Liam are on stage in front of screaming fans. They are back to back, singing "You All Everybody". They face the crowd and Charlie glares at Liam, who doesn't seem to notice.
Backstage, Liam gets slaps on the back, hugs, and congratulations, while Charlie continues to frown at him. Charlie is upset that Liam took his chorus, but Liam doesn't seem concerned. A blonde walks in with a film canister filled with drugs and Charlie is shocked to see his brother go with her.
Too Far
Episode 1x7, The Moth - Flashback 4Charlie tunnels through fans and groupies backstage where he finds his brother drinking and doing drugs with others. Charlie says it's gone too far and it's time to walk away, but his brother refuses and acts as if he doesn't care if Charlie quits. Liam leaves and Charlie picks up one of the film canisters and empties its contents into his hand.
Baby Megan
Episode 1x12, Fire + Water - Flashback 3Charlie and the other members of DriveShaft sit in matching robes on directors' chairs. Liam looks really sick and Charlie asks if he can do this. The director says they are heading into overtime, so let's get it right this time.
The guys take off their robes and are wearing diapers. They get into a giant crib and someone says, "Butties diapers, take 53."
The guys start singing "You All Every Butties," while doing simple choreography that Liam can't keep up with. Liam falls out of the crib and the director is through.
Charlie asks for another chance and the director tells him to ditch Liam. Charlie won't ditch anyone, especially not his own brother.
"Right," the director says. "Well, then, I guess you're fired."
New Song
Episode 1x12, Fire + Water - Flashback 4Charlie sits at the piano with a pencil between his teeth. Liam comes in and says that Karen threw him out because he dropped Megan. Liam begins to cry. He says they don't have any money and Charlie says that he's writing again and they'll get through this.
Charlie says his new song is about two brothers. "Two brothers who should be butchers," Liam says.
"Don't say that," Charlie says. "It's a good one. I feel like it might be the one." Charlie begins to sing and Liam likes the song and says they should write all night like the old days." Charlie agrees and Liam says, "So, baby brother, have you got any?"
