Save Us, Charlie
Episode 2x12, Fire + Water - Flashback 1Young Charlie, in his bunny slippers, comes down the stairs. Young Liam is already by the Christmas Tree, opening presents. Charlie searches for a present for himself, but all of the tags say "Liam".
Charlie's mom comes in and shows Charlie that his present is a large one under blankets and some wrapping. She removes the wrapping to reveal a full size piano.
Charlie asks if it's his and his mother says, "Father Christmas must have known how talented you are. You're special, Love. Someday you're going to get us out of here."
Liam says, "Come on, baby brother." Charlie looks over and Liam is now an adult, but sitting in the same spot under the Christmas Tree and he's wearing a diaper. "You can't save us if you don't play."
An adult Charlie sits at the piano, looking confused. His mother says, "Play me a tune."
Charlie turns to the piano and we hear a man's voice says, "He ain't saving no one, he ain't! Music. Music will never get you anywhere, Charlie boy.
We now see the man from the neck down, dressed as a butcher and chopping meat with a cleaver. Behind him, the butcher shop blends with the living room. Liam sits on the couch playing with something. The man puts a doll on the chopping block. He points the cleaver at Charlie. "You need a trade."
"Dad?" Charlie says. The man cuts the head off the doll.
Liam sarcastically says, "Do it, baby bro. Save us."
"Save us, Charlie. Save us," his mother says.
Jump In
Episode 3x21, Greatest Hits - Flashback 2Charlie is a young boy standing poolside. His father is in the pool telling him to jump in.
"No," Charlie says, "you're just going to back away."
"Don't be daft! Jump in."
"No."
"I promise, Charlie, I'm going to catch you."
"No he won't," Liam says.
Charlie's dad pushes Liam and says, "Zip it, you. Look, don't listen to your brother. Just jump on in. There's nothing to be afraid of, Charlie. I'll catch you. I promise."
Charlie takes some tentative steps toward the pool, takes a deep breath, and then jumps in. Under water he panics a bit, but his father grabs him and lifts him.
"I did it!" Charlie says.
"You're swimming, Charlie," his dad says.
Hero
Episode 3x21, Greatest Hits - Flashback 4Charlie sings on a sidewalk. It begins to rain and he packs up his guitar and walks away.
As he walks by an alley, he hears a woman calling for help. She is being mugged. He runs down the alley and hits the mugger with his guitar case.
"Here you go." He picks up her purse and hands it to her. "Pardon me while I have a heart attack. The last time I had a fight I was eight years old and I lost."
"Well that makes you even more of a hero, doesn't it?" Nadia says.
"I just did what anyone would do," he says.
"Three people walked by the alley. They saw me. But they just kept on going. You are a hero, sir, and don't let anyone ever tell you differently."
Temptations
Episode 1x7, The Moth - Flashback 1Charlie is in a confessional. It's been a week since his last confession. The previous night he'd had relations with a girl he didn't know, then another. "You see, it's my band, DriveShaft." Charlie explains that the band is popular and temptations are everywhere.
The Father says, "But giving in to them, that's your choice." Charlie resolves to quit the band, but as he leaves the confessional he sees his brother, Liam, stretched out on a pew. Liam tells Charlie that they got a recording contract.
