Preview
Desmond mentioned a speech to Hurley that hadn't happened yet (Ep: 3x3, Further Instructions). Then, when Hurley was making fruit salad and was about to leave the shelter, Desmond told him to wait a minute. A minute later lightening, that would have struck Claire's shelter, struck a golf club contraption that Desmond built (Ep: 3x4, Every Man For Himself). Hurley and Charlie try to figure out what is going on with Desmond's apparent ability to see the future.
