Locke Oversteps
Charlie and Locke play backgammon. Locke hopes Charlie didn't get the wrong idea seeing him with the baby. He knows that Charlie and Claire are close and that Charlie spends a lot of time with Aaron. He hopes he didn't overstep his bounds.Charlie tells Locke that Claire has a bit to learn about being a mum.
Locke says, "Now that's an interesting thing to say, for a heroin addict.""Recovering addict," Charlie says.
"Recovering," says Locke and points to the backgammon board. "It's your turn."
Tailies - Sawyer's Stretcher
Jin is helping Sawyer through the jungle. Michael offers to help, but Sawyer says no and starts walking on his own for about two steps, then he collapses.Michael cradles Sawyer's head and Sawyer says he would have left Michael behind and then says, "I did leave you behind."
"Yeah, well, good thing I ain't you," Michael says. He and Sawyer smile at each other, then Sawyer passes out.
Libby says that Sawyer has a fever, an infection, and he's dehydrated.
"We've got to keep moving," Ana-Lucia says.
Everyone else wants to rest and see if Sawyer regains consciousness. "Rest," Ana-Lucia says. "Here? Do you remember what happened to us? What they did to us? You remember Goodwin?"
"Ana's right," Cindy says, "maybe we should just push on."
Michael has the idea to build a stretcher and everyone helps.
Raft is Gone
Shannon continues through the jungle and Sayid asks why she's doing this. "I didn't ask you to follow me.""No, you'd rather be out here alone and get lost or hurt," he says.
"I don't need your help, Sayid."
"Walt is not out here, he's on a raft in the middle of the ocean."
"He's not on the raft. We found the bottle on the beach," Shannon says. "I know he's out here somewhere. I saw Walt. And the raft is gone, and he is all alone."
Tailies - Whispers
Sawyer is in the stretcher and they come to a steep hill. It is almost impossible to get Sawyer up the steep incline, but they work together, even Ana-Lucia helps, and at the top they rest. "Where's Cindy?"They look around. Cindy was just there, but they can't find her. Ana-Lucia says she's going after Cindy, but Eko stops her and says they have to stay together.
Ana-Lucia says, "This is all your fault! We never should have gone through the jungle. You risked our lives to save him and he's already dead. This one's on you."
They hear whispers in the jungle. Michael asks what it is and the Tailies look terrified.
"Run!" Ana-Lucia yells.
Shannon's Flashback - Make Her Own Way
Shannon is packing and Boone comes in. He says, "She said no. She knew why I asked for the money."Shannon asks if she can stay with him in New York until she gets on her feet. Boone is leaving New York. His mother offered him a job. He gives Shannon some money, all he has until his trust fund kicks in next month, but she doesn't take it. She'll figure out a way to make her own money.
Boone really wants her to take the money and she thinks it's because he doesn't believe she can make it on her own.
Walt Again
It's night, it's raining, and Shannon is running through the jungle. She trips and falls. Sayid runs to her and begs her to come back to camp. "Why? You don't believe me!" Sayid doesn't answer and she says, "I need you to believe me.""I do believe you," he says.
"You don't!" she screams. "No one does! They think I'm some kind of joke. They think I'm worthless."
"Shannon, you are not worthless."
"You say that now, but you don't mean it. You're just going to leave me. I know as soon as we get out of here you're just going to leave me."
Sayid says, "I will never leave you. I love you. I'll never leave you."
"You do?" she says.
"I do," he says and they hug. They hear whispers and Walt steps into view.
Walt puts his fingers to his lips and says, "Shhh."
"Do you see him?" Shannon asks.
Without taking his eyes off of Walt, Sayid nods. Shannon jumps up and runs after Walt, while Sayid is still in shock.
He suddenly realizes that Shannon is running towards Walt, who turns and walks away. Sayid runs, but falls, then a gun shot blasts through the jungle. "Shannon!" Sayid yells. She turns around and her belly is covered in blood.
She starts to fall forward and Sayid catches her. She dies in his arms.
Ana-Lucia, looking stunned, lowers the gun. Jin and Michael are horrified. Sayid stares at Ana-Lucia.
