Desmond Thinks It's Over

As Desmond continues to fix the computer, Jack asks all kinds of questions. Desmond says that he didn't know about the plane crash because he has to press the button every 108 minutes, so he doesn't get out much.

He also says that Kelvin died waiting for his replacements. And that he hopes this is all an experiment but that every time he walks past that concrete wall out there his fillings hurt.

Desmond flips a switch on the computer and the power goes out. "It's over," Desmond says. He goes into the pantry and fills a pack with food and his medication and injector. He goes out and Locke runs after him, asking where he's going. "As far as I can run, brother."

Locke asks Jack what they should do but Jack doesn't believe any of it is real and he leaves Locke on his own.

Locke's Flashback - Choose, Helen or Father

Helen is asleep in bed next to Locke. He's awake and staring at the ceiling. He gets up and splashes water on his face. He looks at his scar in the mirror. He goes to his father's house. He watches the house, sipping coffee. A car comes up behind and bumps him. Helen gets out and hurries to his window. She grabs his keys and throws them over the fence.

She yells at him, saying he's scared of moving forward and that he has to choose between her and his father. He says he can't and she says, "Because you don't know what's going to happen. None of us do. That's why it's called a leap of faith, John. You don't have to be alone." She holds out her hand, and Locke takes it.

Hurley's Heaven

Kate comes in with Sayid and Hurley. The timer is down to 24 minutes. Sayid sends Kate and Hurley to find a breaker box.
Hurley opens the door to the pantry and sees all the food. "Whoa."

Sawyer's Escape Plan

Sawyer whispers the escape plan. Jin will play dead and Ana-Lucia will call for help. They begin to argue and Ana-Lucia grabs the gun from Sawyer and calls, "Coming out!"

The big guy opens the cover and tosses a rope down and then pulls her up.

Desmond and Jack, Recognition

Desmond stumbles and falls and some of his backpack contents spill out. As he picks it up, Jack catches up to him, gun drawn. Desmond thinks he wants the code and begins rattling off numbers. "Shut up!" Jack yells.

Jack says that nothing is going to happen if they don't put in the code.

Desmond says, "In about 15 minutes you're either going to be very right, or very wrong, brother."
Jack asks why he's running and Desmond finally figures out where he knows Jack from. "You were running in the stadium. You twisted your ankle. There was a girl. You were worried that you failed her. That was you."

"It doesn't matter," Jack says.

"Was she okay, the girl?"

"It doesn't matter," Jack says.

"What happened to her?"

"It doesn't matter," Jack says.

Desmond asks again and Jack yells, "I married her!" Then he breaks down and cries.

"Right," Desmond says, "And you're not married to her anymore, then?"

Jack lowers the gun and Desmond grabs his pack. "See you in another life, yeah?"

Timer

The timer reads five minutes and Locke asks if Sayid can fix the computer.

Kate finds the transformer and flips the switch, the lights go back on. Sayid fixes the computer and at four minutes a more insistent alarm sounds. "Now what?" Kate asks and Locke says that Desmond had him type in a code.

Locke begins typing in the code: 4, 8-

Hurley tells him to stop and Locke says this isn't the time or place and continues with 15, 16. Hurley argues until Locke says 23, 32.

Jack walks in and says that no, the last number is not 32, it's 42.

Locke tells Jack to push the button, but Jack says it's not real. Locke says that Jack watched the film and it's a two person job. Jack must press the button. Sayid asks them not to argue. At the last second, Jack presses the button and the timer resets to 108.
