Kate Escapes
Kate puts her tied-together hands underneath her and around her feet, to pull them out in front of her. She gets Locke's knife and saws through the rope, releasing her hands. She finds a light switch, and checks the door. She turns around and sees that she is in a pantry, full of food. All of it has the Dharma logo on it.Kate sees an air duct, but can't reach it by jumping. She pulls out a box to stand on and sees a box of Apollo candy. She quickly eats a candy bar. She stuffs more in her pockets, then uses the box to open the air vent and climb inside.
Outside the door, Locke and Desmond talk. Locke explains that the plane was off course when it crashed. Desmond asks how many of them there are, then asks how many are sick. Locke doesn't seem to understand.
Desmond snaps, "As in ill! As in dead!""Is that why it says 'Quarantine' on the inside of the hatch?" Locke asks.
Loud beeping starts. Kate hears it from the air duct. Desmond gets Locke up and they go into the computer room. He asks Locke if he knows how to use the computer and Locke says, "I haven't seen one of these in 20 years."
Up above, there is a timer counting down. Desmond tells Locke to type in the numbers 4, 8, 15 and then asks if Locke heard something. Locke says no and Desmond continues with the numbers 16, 23, 42. He tells him to press execute and Locke hesitates. "What's going to happen?"
Desmond tells him to just do it and when he does, the timer resets to 108.
From in the corridor, Jack yells, "Kate? Locke?"
"Who the hell is that?" Desmond says.
"That would be Jack," Locke says.
Desmond takes Locke to another room and watches Jack through a scope. "Who is he?" Desmond wants to know and Locke says he's their doctor. Kate crawls through the duct, to a vent, where she tries to yell for Jack, but Desmond has started the record player and Jack can't hear her.
Jack looks at the computer and starts to press a button, but Locke steps out and says, "I wouldn't do that." Jack asks about Kate and sees that there is a gun pointed at Locke's head. Jack recognizes Desmond. When Desmond shoots his warning shot, it almost hits Kate.
Sawyer's Shark
Sawyer sees a portion of the raft with a pontoon. He gets on his stomach and paddles with his good arm. Michael tells him to stop, that it's putting too much strain on the bindings. The part of the wreckage that Sawyer is on breaks apart and Sawyer ends up in the water. Michael reaches out his hand, but Sawyer says if he gets back on, they'll both sink.Sawyer gives Michael the gun and says, "You see that toothy son of a bitch, you aim and squeeze, got it?"Sawyer swims for the pontoon and we see the shark's fin. Michael fires, but nothing happens. He gets a few shots off and we see blood spray.
Michael can't find Sawyer and begins to paddle to the pontoon. Sawyer pops up on the opposite side of the pontoon and then helps Michael aboard.
Michael's Flashback - Little Walt
Susan and a little Walt meet Michael at the park. Susan apologizes for being late, packing is a nightmare and they're leaving in the morning. Michael talks to Walt and gives him a stuffed polar bear. As Susan and Walt leave, Michael barely holds back tears.Sawyer and Michael Home
Sawyer wakes up and sees Michael sobbing. "You alright, Mike?""It's my fault. I never should have brought him on the raft. I'm going to get him back. I'm going to get back my son."
Sawyer looks pained, but then sees land.
"How about that?" Sawyer says. "The current brought us back. We're home."
Michael and Sawyer stumble to shore and catch their breath. Suddenly Jin comes running from the woods, yelling in Korean. They seem happy to see him, but when he falls in front of them, they see that his hands are tied. He's yelling and they finally make out one word, "Others."
They look up to see a group of people coming toward them carrying crude, spiked sticks.
