Michael's Flashback - A Meeting With the Lawyers
Michael and Susan and their lawyers have a meeting. Susan's lawyer, Lizzy, asks Michael questions about why he hasn't seen his son. Michael answers that Susan had taken Walt to Amsterdam.Michael's lawyer advises him that Lizzy is baiting him and to just stay quiet. Susan is quiet through the whole thing, but Michael cannot back down from Lizzy's baiting. She says that he was in the hospital for an extended period of time and Susan paid his bills, and that he let Walt go to Amsterdam, and he doesn't know anything about Walt's first words, favorite foods, etc.
"Well for someone who wants to retain his paternal rights so badly, you don't seem to know much about your son, Mr. Dawson," Lizzy says.
"I'm his father," Michael says.
Sawyer Rips the Bullet Out of His Own Shoulder
Michael and Sawyer each float on a different piece of wreckage. Sawyer rips his shirt where the bullet wound is."Are you crazy? You're going to take a bullet out with your bare hand?"
"You got a better idea?" Sawyer asks. Michael doesn't respond, so Sawyer says, "Go to hell!"
"You're never going to be able to do it by yourself," Michael says.
Sawyer says, "I thought we parted ways, Mike."
"We're caught in the same current," Michael says.
Sawyer digs two fingers into his wound, screaming in agony, while Michael watches.
Sawyer pulls out the bullet and says, "You got a Band-Aid?"
Snowman
"Are you? Are you him?" Desmond asks.Locke says, "Yes. Yes I am."
"I can't believe it. You're finally here." Desmond asks who Kate is.
"She's with me," Locke says.
"What did one snowman say to the other snowman?" Desmond asks.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Locke says.
Desmond says that Locke is "not him." And tells him to throw his knife down. He wants Kate to tie up Locke but Locke tells Desmond he should be tying up Kate. She's a fugitive, he's just a manager at a box company.
Desmond tells Locke to tie up Kate and as he does, he slips a knife in her jeans. At Desmond's order, Locke puts Kate in a storage closet.
Jack Goes to the Hatch
Jack and Hurley are at the caves and Jack prepares to go to the hatch.Charlie and Claire wonder between themselves what is going on. Claire finds a Virgin Mary statue of Charlie's and asks what it is. Charlie answers that he found it in the jungle.
He tells Claire to be careful with the statue, and gives her the baby and takes the statue. She didn't realize he was so religious and he says, "I'm not. It's just, you know, it might come in handy. It'd be a nice thing to have around."
Sawyer's Observations
Sawyer talks about the boat and the people who took Walt. "A boat like that had to have left port from somewhere close, like the island."Sawyer says, "French Chick said the Others were coming for a kid. I think they came, Mike."
Michael tries to take it all in.
"He's the one they wanted," Sawyer says. "Why I got a bullet in my shoulder. Hell, Bluebeard blew us up because they wanted your kid."
They argue and Michael splashes Sawyer. Sawyer's piece of wreckage falls apart and he swims over and gets on Michael's wreckage. Sawyer starts to say something nice to Michael, but Michael tells him to shut up. "You have no idea what it's like to care for somebody else."
Michael's Flashback - Susan Convinces Michael
Michael sees Susan alone and asks where her lawyers are. She says she just wants to speak with him. She thinks his injunction is going to win and she will not be allowed to take Walt out of the country.She asks that Michael think of Walt's well-being. Michael is disabled and about to be evicted from his apartment. Susan has a great job and can give Walt so much. Michael says "Walt is my responsibility, too."
"Then let him go," Susan says, "because it's not about you or me, it's about him."
