The Sailors
In Korean, Sun tells Jin, "Sayid wants you to sail the boat to the other side of the island to help Michael."
"No," Jin says. "I won't leave you. Not now."
"You won't leave me, Jin, because I'm coming with you."
Heading for the Others
Kate and Sawyer see a doll on the ground."It's a trap. A net. Rousseau's got them all over the island. I tripped one, with Jack. We ended up, never mind."Sawyer laughs. "When the doc told me that you and he got caught in a net, I thought, something else."
They hear a stick snap and they all raise their guns to the jungle. A huge bird flies down towards them and then away.
Michael tries to shoot, but there are no bullets in his gun.
"That bird just say my name?" Hurley asks."Yeah it did," Sawyer says, "right before it crapped gold."
Michael checks the gun's magazine. "Sorry, man," Jack says, "guess I forgot to load that one."
Locke Loses It
Charlie sees Locke leaning against a tree, sobbing. "John?"Locke wipes his tears and turns around. "What happened to your face?" Charlie asks.
"Nothing, I'm fine," Locke says.
"You feeling a little sorry for yourself, you might want to have a drink with your mate from the hatch. I hear he's a little despondent as well. Oh, that's right," Charlie says, "you weren't there for the dramatic arrival at the funeral. I think he's pushed your button too many times if you ask me."
Sail Away
Sayid packs some things, including a gun. Jin and Sun approach. "I'm sorry if what I said was confusing," Sayid says, "but I asked Jin to come.""You need someone to translate," Sun says. "And you need at least two people who know how to sail."
"Desmond managed by himself," Sayid says.
"And look where he ended up," Sun says. Sayid looks at Jin and Jin shrugs. The three get on the boat.
Vaccination
Baby Aaron is in the cradle and Claire gets the vaccine gun. "You're wasting your time, sister," Desmond says from the tree line. "I shot myself with that stuff every nine days for three years." Desmond walks over. "He's lovely. Is the father here on the island?""No," Claire says, "he's been gone for a long time. Walked off the moment he got scared by the situation."
"Maybe he knew he'd be a lousy dad. Thought what he was doing was best for you."
"He was doing what was best for him."
Desmond's Flashback - Found
Desmond is at the stadium. Another car pulls up and Desmond turns around to see the girl from the photograph."How did you find me?" he asks.
"A man from your flat said you run here every-"
"How did you find me?"
"I have a lot of money, Desmond. With enough money and determination you can find anyone. Did you read your beloved book? The one you were saving?"
"Not yet."
"I thought you may have read it while you were away."
"I was in prison," Desmond says, "Not away."
Penny's eyes well up. "Why didn't you write me?"
Desmond shakes his head. "When are you getting married, Pen?"
"We haven't set a date yet."
"I'll be back in a year."
"What if you were back right now?" she asks.
"I'm going to win this race, Pen. His race." He wipes a tear from her face.
"Desmond, what are you running from?"
"I have to get my honor back. And that's what I'm running to."
Snowmen
Desmond takes a drink. "So what did one snowman say to the other snowman?" Locke asks as he approaches."Smells like carrots."
"Hello, Desmond."
"Hello, Box Man."
Locke sits and takes a drink and Desmond says, "So you managed to fix the computer, then."
"World's still here ain't it?"
"I'm not so sure, brother."
"Refresh my memory, Desmond. How long did you say you were down there in the hatch?"
"Three years."
"Desmond, what if I told you that before that, for all those years that you and all the men before you were down there pushing the button, that it was all for nothing."
"I'd ask how the hell you know that."
"I found another hatch, another station on the island. They called it The Pearl and I saw a film there, an Orientation film. And it said that everything that was happening in our hatch, wasn't real. That it was a test. A psychological experiment."
"You're so sure it's not real? Then just stop pushing the button!"
"Well, I have," Locke says. "Unfortunately, someone else decided to start. You're going to sober up, and we're going to get a good night's sleep, and tomorrow we're going to find out what happens if that button doesn't get pushed."
