"Live Together, Die Alone" Recap

Part 2

By Bonnie Covel, About.com

Let It Go

Locke limps down the hatch entryway, towards the computer. Eko looks up from the computer. "Hello, John, where have you been?"

Locke looks up at the timer. "I've been thinking."

"Thinking what?" Eko asks.

"That in a minute that computer is going to start beeping. And when it does, you're going to let it go. You're going to let it run down to zero, past zero. And when it does, you're not going to press the button."

"But I am going to push the button. Why wouldn't I?"

"Because you don't want to be a slave."

"I am a slave to nothing."

"You're a slave to that." Locke points to the timer counting down. "Just like I was. So I'm going to tell you again, don't push it."

"Do not tell me what I can do."

Eko types in the numbers. Locke looks around, grabs Eko's stick and raises it over the computer. Eko grabs the stick and they fight over it. "Do not push the button," Locke says.

Eko hits Locke with the stick and Locke falls backwards. Eko continues to type in the numbers. Locke gets up and Eko grabs him and takes him down the hatch entryway.

Locke yells, "We're only puppets. Puppets on strings. As long as we push it we'll never be free."

Eko throws Locke out of the hatch. "Well you're free now, John. Don't ever come back." He slams the hatch door.

Guns

Jack hands Michael a gun. He tries to give one to Hurley.
Hurley says, "No way. I'm afraid I'm going to kill someone."
"Ain't that the point?" Sawyer says.

"I thought the point was to get Walt back."

Jack hands Kate a gun and asks her what's the matter. "All that stuff we found in the medical station," Kate says, "costumes, make-up, fake beards. What if these people just want us to think they're hillbillies?"

"Listen, listen," Michael shouts, "I was there. I saw them. They live in huts, they eat fish. They're probably more scared than we are. And, they have no idea that we're on our way."

"Alright, enough jibber-jabber," Sawyer says. "Let's roll."

Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, and Michael head out along the beach.

Boat and Sailor

Sayid approaches Desmond and says, "I need your boat."

"I wouldn't waste your time. There's nothing out there, pal," Desmond says.

"I'm not going out there. I'm going to the North shore of the island and I need to get there quickly."

"Going to see the hostiles, are ya?" Desmond says.

The Elizabeth

Desmond carries a large duffel bag into a coffee shop. "Can I have whichever one has the most caffeine in it, brother?" He opens his wallet. "I'm sorry," he says. "I just arrived and I spent all my American money on a taxi."

"I've got it," a woman says and puts some money on the counter.

"Uh, that's not necessary," Desmond says.

"It's just four bucks," the woman says and we see that it's Libby, with short hair.

"I don't suppose you have 42 thousand more of those, do you?"

"Depends on what it's for," Libby says.

"I was joking."

"No you weren't."

Desmond and Libby sit and have coffee. He shows her a brochure for the International Open Ocean Racing Association.

"So, a sailing race around the world?" Libby asks.

"I've got eight months to get into the best shape of my life. I'll tell you what, Miss, I'm going to win."

"And what do you get if you do?"

"What really matters is who I'll win it from." He flips the brochure over. On the back is a picture of Charles Widmore next to his name and title of Industrialist, Philanthropist.

"Charles Widmore."

"He tried to buy me off. And when I didn't take his money, he took away the only thing in the world that I ever truly cared about."

"Who is she?"

"His daughter. I was unsuitable on several levels."

"And what's the 42 grand for?" Libby asks.

"It's rather complicated. As of yet, I don't have a boat."

Libby gets a faraway look and he says, "I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?"

"I have a boat. It was my husbands, but he got sick. He wanted to sail to the Mediterranean. He passed away, about a month ago."

"I'm sorry."

"I want you to have it."

"I can't take your boat, Miss."

"But you have to. He'd want you to."

"What was your husband's name?"

"David."

"And what did he name his boat?"

"Elizabeth. He named it after me."

"Then I thank you, Elizabeth, and I shall win this race for love."
