Today
Michael cleans Libby's blood from the floor. Eko says hello."Did you find Henry?"
"No."
"I hear you're a priest," Michael says.
"Yes."
"I guess you believe in hell, then."
Eko begins wiping Libby's blood. "For a brief time I served in a small parish in England. Every Sunday after mass I would see a young boy waiting at the back of the church. And then one day the boy confessed to me that he had beaten his dog to death with a shovel. He said that the dog had bitten his baby sister on the cheek and he needed to protect her. And he wanted to know whether he would go to hell for this." Eko dips the rag in water and rinses the blood. "I told him that God would understand. That he would be forgiven as long as he was sorry. But the boy did not care about forgiveness. He was only afraid that if he did go to hell, that dog would be there waiting for him."
Michael goes outside and throws up. Jack asks if he's alright.
"I have to get my son back."
"We're going to help you do that, Michael."
"It's got to be the way I said, man. Just the five of us. Otherwise it won't work."
"We're going to figure that out," Jack says.
"I have figured it out. It's got to be just the people that already know, you, me, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley. That's it. Anybody else, it puts them in more danger. You don't get to decide this, it's my son. It's my call. And that's the way it has to be!"
"Then that's the way it will be," Jack says.
Vaccine
Claire takes care of Aaron and Charlie comes over."Is there something you want, Charlie?"
"I found something in the pallet." He pulls out a case.
"Vaccine!" she says.
"I don't know what we need vaccine for, but I figured if anyone should have it, you and the baby should. It's alright," he says holding up the injector. "It's a pneumatic injector. You just, ah, put it into your leg and it goes right in. Quite painless, really. It says to give yourself a shot every nine days."
"Thank you. I should really feed him."
"Yeah. Oh, hey Claire, do you think you and me can-"
"Oh my God!" she says. "Michael is back."
Sun sees Michael coming and Jin runs to hug him. Then Sun hugs him. They ask if he's okay. He says he is.
They see Kate and Hurley digging two holes with the two bodies next to them.
"Who?" Sun asks.
"Ana-Lucia and Libby," Michael says.
"What happened to them?" Sun asks.
Michael says, "They were murdered."
Alex tends a fire and Mr. Friendly brings Michael in with a bag over his head. Mr. Friendly pulls the bag off. "Hey there, Michael."Michael spits in his face.
Mr. Friendly says, "I'm not going to hold that against you. Fair is fair. I took your boy. But don't do that again, okay."
"Where is he?"
"Hey, lookie what I found." A man walks in leading Kate, who has a bag over her head. "She was following her friends, about half a click behind us."
Mr. Friendly tells Michael, "You make one sound, you'll never see your boy again."
Mr. Friendly tells the small group, "Gag him. Get ready with the torches. I'm going to go talk to her people."
Meanwhile, Jack, Sawyer and Locke come to the clearing. Locke thinks they should head back, but Jack says, "Just find the trail, John."
Locke says he's lost it and Jack says that he just doesn't want to find Michael. Locke says, "You're not going to get him to come back and you know it."
Jack says, "You know what happens if we just turn around and go back? We're never going to see him again. And that's going to be on us. On you and on me."
A voice comes from behind some trees. "You're exactly right, Jack. But if I were you, I'd listen to Mr. Locke," Mr. Friendly says.
"Who are you?" Jack asks and Sawyer says he's the one who shot him.
"Why don't you point the gun down?" Mr. Friendly says. Sawyer keeps the gun pointed and walks toward him. A gun shot from in the jungle is heard and the bullet grazes Sawyer's ear.
Alex tells Michael, "It's okay. He's just delivering a message. He has to scare your friends to do it."
Jack refuses to give up the guns and Mr. Friendly says, "I hoped it wouldn't come to this. Bring her out, Alex!"
On the other side of the trees, Alex looks in their direction. A man says go. And she says, "You."
"Come on, Alex," he says.
"Please," she begs.
The man takes Kate out. Alex asks Michael, "Is Claire okay? Did she have the baby? Is it a boy or a girl?"
