"What are you building?" Eko looks up to see that Ana-Lucia has asked the question.
"I'm building a church," he says and she asks why he would want to do that.
He tells her he was told to in a dream and she says, "A dream like this one?"
Ana-Lucia has blood on her chest, mouth, and head. In a desperate, out of breath voice she says, "You need to help John."
Twenty-three scenes flash by very quickly (see "?" Eko's Dream Sequence).
Eko studies the Dharma logo in the hatch and Yemi sits at the computer. "Yemi?" Eko says.
Yemi stands. "Hello, Eko."
"Oh, Yemi. Forgive me. I should have listened to you. I didn't mean to do it."
Yemi shushes him. "The work being done in this place is more important than anything and it is in danger. You must help John. He has lost his way. You must make him take you to the question mark."The timer beeps and the countdown clock is filled with spinning question marks. Each key on the computer keyboard is a question mark. Yemi types and the question marks stop spinning.
"John will not want to show you, so you must make him."
Eko hears a noise. Yemi grabs his arm. "Eko, there are many distractions, brother." Everything shakes. "But you must move past them. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Yemi."
"And Eko, bring the axe."
An axe slams down on a tree branch and Eko wakes up by his church.
Charlie rolls over. "What's the matter?"
Eko looks down at the cross he's clutching and grabs the axe. "I need to find John."
Eko is There to Help
Sawyer leads the way through the jungle with a torch. Jack follows, then Locke on his crutches, and Kate behind with another torch."What were you thinking, John?" Jack asks.
"Jack, leave him alone," Kate says.
"Jack, don't leave him alone," Sawyer says.
"If Ana hadn't lifted your gun we wouldn't-"
"Well isn't that swell," Sawyer says, "gimp with a crutch over here tries to cover up that the artist formerly known as Henry Gale tried to strangle your little amiga and suddenly it's on me when she goes vigilante."
They reach the hatch and the door swings open and Michael falls out. Jack runs to him.
"He shot me!" Michael says. "He's gone, he ran out. I was sleeping. I heard gun shots. I got up and came out of the bedroom. There was this guy. He had a gun-"
Jack looks at his wound and says he has to get Michael up. Eko steps out of the shadows. "Let me help you."
Sawyer, Kate, and Locke rush into the hatch. Sawyer looks horrified as he sees Ana-Lucia, bloody, sitting on the couch. Kate runs to Ana-Lucia and Sawyer goes to Libby.
Kate tries to find Ana-Lucia's pulse. Locke glances into the empty armory.
Jack and Eko bring Michael in and Jack takes in the scene.
Kate takes her fingers from Ana-Lucia's neck and says, "She's dead."Suddenly Libby coughs up blood. Jack runs to her. Michael watches, looking worried.
Eko prays over Ana-Lucia. Locke watches.
Jack and Kate work on Libby. Jack says she's in shock. He tells Kate to keep pressure on her wounds and he goes into the other room. Michael asks how she is and Jack says he's doing what he can.
Jack wants to know how long ago the shootings happened. Michael says maybe twenty minutes or a half hour.
"We can pick up the trail," Jack says.
Sawyer says, "The man's got a head start, a gun, and ain't afraid-"
"He shot three of our people," Jack says. "One of them's dead-"
"Who's going to take care of Libby while you're off playing Daniel Boone?" Sawyer asks.
Eko walks out. "I will go. John you have tracking experience, yes?"
Locke confirms.
"We will find this trail together," Eko says.
Jack says, "You find anything, anything, you come back and we'll figure out what to do together."
