Michael lays on the ground in the jungle while Kate tries to rouse him. Jack wanders into the jungle and Kate asks where he's going.
"Maybe they just let him go."
"Let him go?" Kate is frantic. "He's alone! They didn't just push him into the jungle, Jack. He's alone!"
Jack looks long into the jungle, then comes back and he and Kate lift Michael and begin the walk back.
Ana-Lucia Ponders
Ana-Lucia cuts up fruit and casts a long look towards Locke, who is laying on the bottom bunk in the bedroom area. She looks at the armory door.Ana-Lucia's Flashback - I Quit
In a parking lot are several cop cars. Ana-Lucia drives in and her mother, Captain Cortez, comes up and says she looks tired. She asks where Ana-Lucia was last night.She says she was home. "Cooked myself some dinner. Watched some T.V."
"What'd you watch?" Captain Cortez wants to know.
Ana-Lucia gives her a resigned look and the Captain says, "Let's go for a drive."
At the morgue, a sheet is removed over the dead guy that Ana-Lucia had shot. "Remember Jason McCormick?" the Captain asks. "Found him in a parking lot just after three in the morning. He was dead an hour before anyone even saw him. Crime scene pulled a gun from the dumpster. Registration was filed off. No prints. No witnesses. He was executed."
Ana-Lucia says, "Any idea who did it?"
"Yeah, Ana, you did. This man confesses to shooting you in cold blood and you refuse to I.D. him, so we have to cut him loose. A week later he shows up with five bullets in his chest because someone shot him in cold blood.""Guess I should get a lawyer," Ana-Lucia says. She turns to leave, but her mother stops her.
"Look, we both know this is going to be a dead-end investigation, but Ana, if you did this, you have to let me help you."
"Thanks, Ma, but I don't need your help." She walks away.
Captain Cortez yells, "You don't want my help, you're going to have to get it from somewhere else. You're a police officer, Ana. If you don't respect me, at least respect that."
"Then I quit," Ana-Lucia very calmly says. She hands her mother her badge. Her mother wraps her own fingers around Ana-Lucia's. Ana-Lucia drops her hands and walks away.
You Killed Two of Us
Ana-Lucia walks into the hatch carrying a bowl of cut up fruit. "Hey, Henry, what do you say?"She sees a bowl of fruit already in there and says, "How long you going to keep up on this hunger strike, Henry?
"Did I ever tell you I was a cop?" she asks. "I've been around a lot of killers in my life. You know what surprises me the most about them? How much they love to talk. You're different, Henry. Quiet."
Henry mumbles something and Ana-Lucia gets in his face and says, "If you're going to say something, you're going to have to speak up."
He grabs her by the head and throws her backwards, then grabs her neck and chokes her. "You killed two of us. Good people who were leaving you alone."
She pushes him back, but he regains control. She is down on the cot and he is on top of her with his hands around her neck. She is just about to pass out when Locke hits non-Henry with his crutch and non-Henry falls off of Ana-Lucia.
Non-Henry lays on the ground, Ana-Lucia coughs, and Locke hobbles to the cot and sits. He says, "I guess he decided to start talking, Ana."
