Sun's Flashback - Going to America
"Sun are you alright?" Jae asks in English. She says she's fine, but he points out that she was distracted for their entire lesson.She tells him that they had been to the doctor and that she cannot have children. He says he is sorry and she says, "I was glad."
In Korean he says, "Why are we here?"
"Because you're teaching me English," she says.
"You've been practically fluent for a month now. Why are you learning English?"
"Because I'm moving to America."
"Jin," Jae says. "You're going to leave him. I ran away to America for a woman because I thought I was in love. But you can't run away from your life."
"And Jin?" she says. "Is he my life? I should stay because-"
Jae gets very close and says, "I'm not saying you should stay for Jin."
This is the Spot
Charlie sleeps and Sayid and Ana-Lucia sit by the campfire. She confesses that she thinks everyone hates her. She'd always tried to get people to like her but she finally gave up. "I mean, I am what I am. But you, you've got a good reason to hate me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I did."
Sayid says, "You were trying to protect your people. It wasn't you that killed Shannon, it was them. And once we find out he is one of them, then something will have to be done."In the morning, Sayid watches Ana-Lucia sleep. She wakes and asks, "What?"
"Nothing," he says.
"It's going to rain," she says and Sayid suggests that they get moving. Charlie wishes they could eat first.
Later, they walk through rain into a large clearing. "This is it," Sayid says.
There is nothing in the clearing and Charlie says, "This balloon would be rather large, right?"
Ana-Lucia wants to look some more, but Sayid says this is where it would be. Ana-Lucia says, "If I'm going to back your play on this, Sayid, we need to be sure."
Sayid says they will search as thoroughly as Ana-Lucia pleases.
No Pearl For Rose
Bernard struggles with a net at the shore. Jin tries to help but Bernard says he is not trying to catch fish. He puts his hands together and opens them like an oyster and says, "Pearl, for Rose."Jin nods and says, "No oyster. No oyster here."
Bernard says, "Ah, of course not. Why would there be?"
Sawyer comes over and tells Bernard that Sun is pregnant but that Jin doesn't know yet.
Jin's Mistake
Jin works to re-plant Sun's garden. Sun finds him and asks what he's doing. He says he's fixing a mistake and that he needs her. He continues to apologize, but she cuts him off, saying, "I'm pregnant."Jin is so happy that he picks her up off the ground when he hugs her.
"There's something I need to tell you," she says.
Sun's Flashback - The Truth
Sun walks her dog and a car pulls up along the side walk. It's Dr. Kim and he asks her to get in the car. She asks why and he says he needs to speak to her.Sun acts nervous and starts to walk away. He gets out of his car and says, "Wait, please!" He runs up to her and says, "It's not you that can't have children. It's him. It's your husband."
He explains that he couldn't say it was Jin because Jin works for her father. "If I told a man like him he couldn't - he would burn my practice to the ground!"
Sun wants to know why he is telling her now and he says, "Because you deserve to know the truth."
