Sayid's Flashback - Your English Is Good
With the sounds of war outside, Sayid and other soldiers burn and shred documents. Sayid's commanding officer, Tariq, yells for them to shred the documents faster.U.S. soldiers break the door in and give orders for the Republican Guards to get down. Sergeant Buccelli asks who's in charge. No one answers. He tells one of the Iraqi soldiers to stop what he's doing or he'll shoot, but the soldier doesn't stop. Sayid yells for him to stop and the Sergeant asks if he's in charge.
"No, I'm not," Sayid says in English.
"Who is?" the Sergeant asks.
Sayid says, "There is no commanding officer here. He left two hours ago for Hilah."
The Sergeant says, "Your English is good, but you're lying, and that ain't so good." He knocks Sayid out with the butt of his rifle.
Later, Sergeant Buccelli takes Sayid to Sergeant Austen. Austen asks if Sayid has ever done any translating and Sayid says not formally. Austen explains that a helicopter went down two days ago and the pilot was captured. It's very important that they get the pilot back. "We know that he was taken to the local Republican Guard intelligence commander, a man named Tariq. Do you know him?"
Sayid says that Tariq was his commanding officer and that he fled to Hilah. They walk through a door and Austen says, "Welcome to Hilah." Tariq is sitting inside.
Rousseau
Ana-Lucia runs out of the jungle and asks Sayid where Jack is. She takes Sayid into the jungle and points out Rousseau walking around. Sayid says, "Go back, Ana-Lucia, and don't tell anyone what you saw."Sayid follows Rousseau, then gets around in front of her, surprising her. "What are you doing here, Danielle?" he asks her.
"Looking for you," she says.
She wants to take him somewhere and show him something that will help him, but Sayid is not convinced he should go. She gives him her rifle and he checks to see if it's loaded, then follows her.
Sayid's Flashback - Where is the Pilot?
Sergeant Austen tells Sayid to ask where the pilot is. Sayid does, but Tariq doesn't answer, just tells Sayid that he is a traitor. Sayid keeps asking and keeps getting the same answer. Tariq tells Sayid to take the Sergeant's gun and kill the Sergeant and whoever else he can and that Sayid is a disgrace. Sayid continues to tell the Sergeant that Tariq says doesn't know where the pilot is.Hurley's Stash
Sawyer has trouble sleeping because of a frog croaking loudly in the jungle. He asks Jin if he hears it, but Jin just gives him a dirty look and walks away. Sawyer goes into the jungle after the frog and finds Hurley, scrambling to hide the fact that he's eating chips dipped in Dharma ranch dressing."What do you got there, Rerun?" Sawyer asks.
Hurley says, "Nothing," and Sawyer says he has a spot of nothing on his chin. Sawyer says he won't tell about the stash if Hurley helps him find the loud frog.
