Eko a Priest?

Charlie and Eko continue to the small plane. Charlie says he's not what Eko thinks he is. "It was my brother's fault I became an addict," Charlie says. "He started with the heroin. I tried to make him stop. You don't know me, man. I was a good person. I was an alter boy. Alright, I knew what was in the statue, it doesn't mean I needed what was inside it. So don't judge me, man."

Eko sees a parachute behind Charlie and goes to investigate. They see the Nigerian "priest" skeleton and Eko rips open his shirt. No cross. Charlie asks if Eko knew that guy and Eko says, "Yes, this man saved my life."

Eko prays over the skeleton and Charlie says, "He saved your life, huh? Sure, that makes sense. He takes off in a plane in Nigeria, we're out in the middle of the South Pacific, that makes all the sense in the world."

Charlie picks up Eko's stick. "This is scripture written here. You're a priest, right?"

Eko's Flashback - Eko Becomes a Priest

Eko bursts in on Yemi as he hears confession. Yemi asks those in the church to leave and then says, "How dare you come here and disrupt my work."

Eko wants Yemi to sign some ordination documents to make Eko and the other thugs priests so that they can deliver the drugs themselves. In exchange he will give Yemi the money for the vaccines.

Yemi tells him to leave the church.

"Yemi," Eko says, "I understand that you live in a world where righteousness and evil seem very far apart, but that is not the real world."
Eko continues, "I am your brother and I would never do anything to hurt you, but my friends, if you do not do what I ask, they will burn this church to the ground. Is that worth less than the price of your name on a piece of paper? Think of the lives you will save."

After a long stare down, Yemi snatches the paper out of Eko's hand and signs the ordination. "My signature does not make you a priest, Eko. You could never be a priest."

Eko asks how many Virgin Mary statues are left and takes all 300. He offers his brother a pile of money, but Yemi doesn't take it, so Eko sets the money down on a bible. "I guess we're both sinners now," Eko says.

"Perhaps we are, but God will forgive me, Eko."

The Monster

Charlie gets lost and Eko tells him to climb a tree to get his bearings.
"You climb it," Charlie says. "What if I don't? You going to beat me with your Jesus stick? I find it a little odd that your scripture stick has dried blood on it."
Eko tells him he must. Charlie struggles to climb the tree and Eko tells him to get higher.

Suddenly we hear what sounds like an explosion and the unseen force. Charlie yells, "Eko, run! Run!"

The black cloud stops in front of Eko and it looks like it has different images in it. It gathers itself and leaves, and Eko looks up at Charlie.

Charlie climbs down from the tree and Eko asks if he saw it. "Yeah, I saw it. What the bloody hell did you do?"

"I did nothing," Eko says.

Charlie points out that, "Most people, when they see a creature made of swirling black smoke, they run."

"I was not afraid of it."

"I can see that," Charlie says. "That thing kills people."

Charlie had seen the plane from the tree and they walk towards it.

Walt?

Michael looks around the hatch, and certain that he is alone, goes to the computer and types something in, but nothing happens. "Come on. Come on. Where are you?"

Suddenly on the monitor we see, "Dad?"

Michael types, "Are you okay?"

"Yes. Are you alone?"

Michael types, "Yes."

"Can't talk long. They're coming back soon."

"Where are you?"

"You need to com-"

Jack enters just as Michael was about to type something. Jack says that as soon as they can they will figure out a way to get Walt back.

In the jungle, Eko and Charlie come upon the little plane.
