Benjamin Linus Played by: Michael Emerson
Young Ben Played by: Sterling Beaumon
Reason for the Flight: Not on the plane, he was already on the island at the time of the crash
Profession: Dharma employee and then later one of the leaders of the Others
Past: In flashbacks, we learned that Ben came to the island as a boy, was shot by Sayid, went to the hostiles, grew up to work for Dharma, then joined the hostiles. He personally killed his father while the rest of the initiative was gassed. He also stole Rousseau's baby instead of killing Rousseau on Charles orders. He made sure Charles was banished.
Island: He was first known as Henry Gale, but Sayid discovered that he was not Henry Gale. It wasn't until much later that we learned his real name is Ben. He had a tumor on his spine, which Jack removed.
Ben didn't start getting better until Locke was around him. Ben took Locke to see Jacob, whom Locke couldn't see at first. Shortly after, Ben shot Locke.
Ben and Alex intercepted Jack and the survivors on their way to the radio tower. Ben said he would have his men kill Sayid, Bernard, and Jin. Jack beat Ben and took him captive.
After being captured by Jack, Locke kept Ben a prisoner in Ben's own basement, but later let him go after Ben revealed some secrets.
Keamy's men kidnapped Alex to try to get to Ben, but Ben bluffed and said that Alex wasn't his daughter and didn't mean anything to him. Keamy shot Alex and Ben was devastated.
Shortly after Ben went into and then came out of his hidden room, the smoke monster came after Keamy's men.
Post-Island: Ben goes to Tunisia and sees Sayid on the news after Nadia was murdered. Ben goes to Sayid and manipulates Sayid into working for him.
Ben goes to see Charles Widmore and promises to murder his daughter, Penny. Charles promises to get the island back. Ben says Charles will never find the island and Charles says Ben will never find Penny.
Per Eloise Hawking's instructions, Ben works to get the Oceanic 6 back together. He gets on the Ajira Airways Flight headed for Guam and ends up back on the island. He and Locke go to the main island and he summons the smoke monster to be judged for killing Alex. The monster doesn't come, and Locke takes him to the hole outside the walls that surround the Temple.
In the smoke Ben sees his past with Alex. Alex appears to him and tells him to listen to John Locke.
Strong Relationships: The Others seem to follow him and do what he says for the most part. He has a strong, if rocky, bond with his daughter Alex, until she is killed by Keamy.
Rocky Relationships: He seems to have a rocky relationship with Juliet, Jack, and Locke and he and Charles Widmore hate each other and work against each other.
