Why Watch 'Lost'?

By , About.com Guide

Survivors of a plane crash must work together to stay alive. The plane had lost communication and was 1000 miles off course when it went down, so it is not likely that they will be rescued any time soon. They are forced to deal with their inner demons, each other, and an island that turns up mystery after mystery.

Everybody is talking about Lost : It was one of the top-rated shows of the 2004 season, and 20 million viewers tuned in for the premiere of the second season. And while viewership has dropped off a bit, there are plenty of die hard, loyal fans who will talk about the show long after the series end date.

Edge-of-your-seat storylines: When one mystery is solved, another, even bigger mystery comes up. Lost includes lots of drama, along with humor, action, and awesome cliffhangers.

Exciting characters: At first, we got back stories of the 14 main characters, through flashbacks, with only get bits and pieces at a time, making figuring out the characters a fun challenge. Now, we've gotten additional characters and we also see flash forwards. We get an impression of someone, but then our impression changes as we see more of their previous and future life.

Mystery: Lost has more mystery than any drama I've ever watched. The island mysteries have me fascinated. We've seen polar bears on this supposedly tropical island, an unseen force, black smoke, hatches and bunkers, and other people that weren't on the plane.

Interconnected characters: Many of the characters are interconnected. While watching a flashback, we often see other main or secondary characters directly or indirectly involved with the flashback character.

I love all of the Lost mysteries and I can't wait to find out more about these complex characters from week to week. Wednesday has become my favorite day of the week, as I watch the clock tick by until at last it's 9:00 p.m. and I get a few answers, along with more questions. I give Lost , two thumbs up, five stars, a 10, and an A+.

It's never too late to start watching. You can catch up on past episodes in the episode recap section and ask questions in the forum.
