Lost Will End During the 2009-2010 Season

Monday May 7, 2007
I bet Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof are extremely happy after coming to an agreement with ABC. The two Lost executive producers have said that they want the series to end where it should end instead of letting the network milk it for as long as they can.

With 16 new episodes each season, Lost will air for three more seasons. The producers say, "We always envisioned Lost as a show with a beginning, middle and end. By officially announcing exactly when that ending will be, the audience will now have the security of knowing that the story will play out as we've intended."

I'm happy with this announcement. I think the 16 episodes will provide great story arcs for each season. What do you think of the new schedule?

Personally I would have preferred 2 seasons of 24 episodes but I understand that the producers had committed to foreign networks for 3 more seasons. 16 is the minimum number of episodes to make a season.

I’m happy for you, Bonnie, because we’ll have the site around for at least 3 more years!

Now, here’s a tidbit…..

I took a tour today of the Molii Fishpond area where the sub pier and sub scenes were filmed. I saw the sub and it still exists!

Also, I saw a open air pavillion which my Guide told me they used last week to film a fancy bar scene for the season finale. Today they were filming far up in a valley at a new camp for the Others. Now that’s right from the source here on Oahu!

Wow! How fun. That would be really exciting to do. I’m just happy it was be going on for 3 more years. The wait between seasons will be really tough though.

Cool! Insider info from Hawaii!

I read the AP article about the end date which started out saying, “ABC is attempting to rescue once-hot “Lost” by ending the show — in 2010.” Talk about negative!
They made it sound like this was a last ditch effort even though the article goes on to quote the producers who said they always new it would have an end date.

John, how cool! And hmmm, was the sub really blown up (in the story I mean?). There’s been speculation that it wasn’t

And thanks for explaining the 3-season thing. Carlton and Damon have always said they envisioned Lost as a 100-episode story. I haven’t counted – will that be close?

(5) Andrea says:

I’m glad that they will have the next three seasons uninterrupted by a break in the middle or loads of repeats. It’ll be 16 episodes straight through, possibly starting in January rather than in September. It’ll be good to get the show a positive reputation again.

Yeah, I think 2 more regular seasons would be better too, but at least this way it draws it out a little longer.

Dig up some more dirt for us, John. I’ve had suspicions about the sub not blowing up and the fact that you’ve seen it makes me even more suspicious. But I guess they couldn’t really blow up a sub for the show. But still, I think we’ll see that sub again before 2010!

(7) Lostaway Bonnie says:

It will be more than 100 episodes. It’d be cool if they did a total of 108, but I counted 117 episodes between the first three seasons and the last three.

They will do 16 episodes for three seasons for a total of 48 episodes after this season. The first season was 24 episodes, the second was 23 and the third will be 22.

(8) John Fischer says:

Folks here on the North Shore say that while most of the cast is friendly but somewhat aloof, Terry O’Quinn is everywhere. Folks see him at Foodland, Starbucks etc. He stands out like a sore thumb since he’s 6′3″ tall. Everyone says he is sooo friendly.

Now this is just speculation, but a lot of folks here think that in the final episodes of the season we’ll see 3 deaths among our heroes – Charlie, Kate and Saywer. We pretty much know about Charlie, apparently Evangeline Lily is marrying Dominick next month and asked to be written out since they want to move back to LA. Think about it, her backstory is now complete. Also complete now and gone full circle is Sawyer’s backstory. His whole life was haunted by the real Sawyer who is now dead. He is at peace with his life. People here are also speculating about a Sayid death because the actor is supposedly unhappy.

We’ll know more in a few weeks.

couldn’t there be TWO subs on the island? I mean…Locke’s father got there somehow didn’t he?

May 9, 2007 at 1:48 pm
(10) Lostaway Bonnie says:

There could. And we don’t know for sure that they use the sub to get to the island. Just because Juliet came out of a sub doesn’t mean that’s how she got to the island. She was drugged. She could have been brought some other way and put in the sub so she would believe that’s how she got there. Anthony Cooper didn’t know how he got there either.

(11) John Fischer says:

I’ll stick by my theory that Locke moved the sub and swam back to the dock. He blew up the dock. I bet the sub is how they’ll go looking for Naomi’s ship.

Its sad to think that lost will be gone someday. This is seriously the best show i have ever seen- and im sure im not alone in saying that. however, all good things must come to an end and there’s only so much you can add to the storyline. hopefully after it’s over, the producers will produce yet another phenomenal show.
