Lost Puzzles
Tuesday September 5, 2006
Yes, I know Lost is puzzling, but now there are actual Lost jigsaw puzzles. There are four in all and each reveals something about the show. TDC Games encourages you to collect all four "to reveal the true secrets". The puzzles that are now available are titled "The Hatch," "The Others," and "The Numbers." "Before the Crash" will be available towards the end of the year. I haven't actually gotten my hands on one of these yet, so I can't comment on the quality and fun, but they look pretty nifty! See for yourself: LOST Jigsaw Puzzles.

I bought one of these but they don’t give you the full picture so it’s turning out to be a giant pain in the arse
Dang! I wondered about that. I have three of the puzzles, but haven’t attempted to put them together yet.
I have the hatch, Took about four days to put together. I had never worked a puzzle without a picture. But I have three missing pieces. I am sure I did not loose them because they are in a straifgr row, What’s the odds?
Oh no! Can you contact the company and ask them about it. That is really odd. So, aside from the missing pieces, what did you think about the puzzle? Did it give you an good clues?
I put together The Hatch and I’m currently working on The Others. The Hatch didn’t really give any clues I haven’t seen already by just watching the series, but if you pay attention, you’ll notice a yellowish print on the back of many pieces. I’ve been told, when you assemble the puzzle, you can break out a blacklight and see the hidden secrets. But from what I also understand, if you put all 4 together and then see them as one, they reveal an even larger secret.
If you do get the puzzles and want to cheat a little (see what the completed puzzle with look like), just search google and you’ll most likely find someone who’s taken pictures of their work.
Wow, that’s so interesting. I got the first one put together and it’s missing three pieces, but they are not right together. I wonder if the blacklight thing is true, try it. Got a black light handy?
Well according to Amazon.com:
“Put all the pieces together with this all-new original puzzle solving concept. Based on the the hit ABC TV series, LOST, a set of four jigsaw puzzles each features a collage of images that relates to the specific theme of that puzzle. Once each puzzle is constructed and the collage is revealed, the builder will be treated to a secret to solving the mystery of the island. Each puzzle provides a specific and different clue, and best of all, there is a huge secret tie-in clue that can only discovered after building all four puzzles!”
To get a black light, just go to Wal-Mart or Target. Even some grocery stores carry them. Worst case, go to a magic shop in/around town. They should be where the lightbulbs are stored. Be careful though, putting a blacklight in a lamp that doesn’t support enough wattage can ruin the bulb and/or lamp. Also, don’t keep the blacklight on too long, there is a great heat output on the bulb and can actually burn the skin.
Put all three puzzles that are out together and the writing on the back of the puzzles can also be seen by exposing them to light and then turning off all the lights (glow-in-the-dark). The picture is the diagram drawn in dish liquid on the door of the hatch by Desmond’s hatch buddy (can’t remember his name) and it was exposed when Lock got stuck under the door. Just waiting for the fourth to completely see it.
Well, I have two of the puzzles, and there are differences to the Hatch door map. There are a string of completely unrelated numbers on the puzzles… along the lines of cv18 cv12, stuff like that. I can’t make out some of the letters very well, because I have bad night vision and I don’t have a black light. But that string has got to be a code of some kind, since none of the images of the Hatch door map has the same string of code.
For those who think they are missing pieces, I am betting you are not really missing them. It was very easy to place pieces incorrectly; I had to go back to it several times to get it right. See if any piece seems a little too loose. I though I was missing a piece until I was down to only a few pieces remaining. Puzzle is tricky to assemble, but also very addictive and enjoyable. Only did one, but I have the others ready to go. You can get them at Bed, Bath & Beyond fairly cheap. After Christmas they were marked down 50%!
I have to go get my black light to check out the writing on back. I did notice the yellow writing on the backs of some pieces.
Thanks for the suggestion about Bed, Bath & Beyond. I had to go to 3 different stores (each one had only 1 single puzzle, luckily all three were different
, but I was able to pick all three for under $25. Now I’m just working on putting them together, and waiting for puzzle #4 to be released.
I bought all 3 puzzles and we put them together in about a week, working nights and one weekend.
Turn them over and expose to light and you can see them just fine.
Anyone have a date when they will be coming out with the fourth? On their website they say between November and May
Just finished putting together the 1st puzzle in the series and thought it was relatively easy. Having a hard time making out what all the clues are on the bottom. We put it together on top of a glass table and trying to look under and read it is quite difficult.
I was so excited after putting together the first puzzle I decided to puzzle keep it and glued it to a poster board… kinda wish I’d known about the secrets on the back then.
Oops. That’s neat that you’re keeping it like that. Perhaps you can get together with someone else who has the puzzle to see the clues.
Kinda frustrating that we have to wait until November for #4, all th while keeping the other 3 assembled. Need to get another puzzle felt now!
I’ve bought the first three and have finished all of them. They’re pretty tough without having much of the picture. The third one is probably the easiest once you figure out that each section of the puzzle is broken into 4 8 15 16 23 42. So, then whenever you get a small portion of something done, like the cop cars with the numbers on them, they will go in that section of the puzzle ..for instance cop car 23 will go in section 23… this is the case with just about everything in the puzzle. I’ve ordered the fourth puzzle at lostpuzzles.com.
Guess what just showed up at the door today!!! Lost puzzle 4. Looks like it’ll be pretty hard. Lots of little pics of everyone from before the crash. Oceanic logo in middle. Guess I’ll get to work on it now!!!
Very cool! Let us know how it goes.
Just finished puzzle 4. Not all that bad. The writing on the back and the colors really help alot. And the picture on the front gives you a lot more of the puzzle than you think.
Still trying to figure out what was “SO revealing” they had to wait until after the hiatus to release this one, but oh, well.
Lostpedia has the jigsaw puzzles decoded! See the article
Very cool!
These Puzzles are a trip cousins & couzetts. It was not until after i accidentally kick the puzzle after it was assembled did i notice the glowing on the backside of the pieces. These Lost cats or Others love playing with are minds. Im through two of the four puzzles & ready for more.
I wish you could get the puzzles here in Australia. I got the first two on ebay and I am trying to get the 3 and 4. The problem is trying to get them at a resonable postage rate.
does anyone know how to purchase lost puzzles from australia, i’m busting to get all 4
i worked on the hatch for 5 days. I flipped it over and saw the yellow tint. SO i went into a room with the lights turned off… the yellow tint is glow in the dark. Some thing about DIHG and a meteorological project, with magnetic rocks… didnt get a single word of it.
My son wants to hand his “Lost” puzzles up when they are completed. In an effort to plan for them I need to know if they hand horizontally, vertically or both. Will someone who has completed them please fill me in? Thanks!!
they hang both horizontally and vertically.
so i’ve finished the first two and there’s one piece missing from each. and it’s the same EXACT PIECE. anyone know if it’s that way in the last two as well?
I have finished the 2nd lost puzzle (The Others). They are a pain but I love them. I also purchased 4 and 5. I am hooked.
I have all 4 puzzles. Finished 1 and 2 and so far there no missing pieces. Some look like they fit in certain places but they don’t. Keep trying. Haven’t checked the reverse of the puzzles yet but will look into it.
