We've been wondering the identity of the true author behind the Gary Troup Lost tie-in book, Bad Twin. According to M & C books, the author is Laurence Shames.

It turns out that the author had his own idea of how the book should go and didn't include all the elements that the Lost writers had asked him to include. I'm not sure if I completely buy this. It's hard to believe that the writers wouldn't have final say as to what went into the book, and I'm sure they had full editorial rights. I mean, after all, we know they can write, so wouldn't they change the plot line to be how they wanted it to be?

On the other hand, they were most likely trying to the get the book published and available to the public as soon as possible. It's a relief to know that not all the elements that the Lost writers were hoping for were included in the book, because it does feel a little lacking. I am enjoying reading Bad Twin, regardless. It's a quick read, great for summer vacations. It doesn't give many clues to the show, but it's a pretty good story in its own right.
