Who's Dead?

Friday May 5, 2006
Okay, I may have to change my stance on this whole Ana-Lucia is going to live thing. Michael Ausiello was able to talk to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, and he posted his findings in two separate blog posts: Why Did Lost Kill Ana Lucia? Lindelof/Cuse Tell All! and ASK AUSIELLO.

The guys claim that when they were looking for the Ana-Lucia character they new they wanted a Latina woman in her 30s and that her storyline would be that she was the leader of the Tailies and a former L.A. police officer. When Michelle Rodriguez came along, they wanted her for the part, but she said that she only wanted to sign on for one year. Damon and Carlton were okay with that. So, from the time she was hired, they knew they would kill off her character by the end of the season two.

They also had the whole Libby gets shot thing planned too and it has nothing to do with the actresses both getting DUIs. They assure us that the rest of season two is dependent on the shootings of Ana-Lucia and Libby.

Some things they promise over the next three episodes: More on the Walt/Michael storyline and an explanation of where Michael was all this time; More on the Claire/Charlie relationship; More on the army, which got put on the back burner because events with non-Henry took over. What they won't comment on is if we'll find out how Locke got paralyzed.

So, it seems that Ana-Lucia has left us, but Damon and Carlton have been known to put out misinformation to throw us off the trail, although the misinformation usually doesn't reach us straight from their mouths.
