Many of us have been complaining about the
Lost reruns, and producers are listening. But here's the thing, a typical season in a television series consists of 36 weeks. During the 36 weeks the show airs 22 new episodes with reruns interspersed. Other networks have gotten around the rerun problem by starting the season in January instead of September. So basically, when the show is off, it's off, and when it's on, it's on with no repeats. We have to wait a little longer for our show, but once it's on, it's on continuously with new episodes until the season finale.
Okay, that doesn't sound so bad, except ABC is against changing their model. ABC is willing to compromise, however, and exec producer Damon Lindelof is pushing for Lost to be shown in three acts. The first "act" would be seven episodes, then another block of seven, and then the final act would be eight episodes. In order to do that, they'd have to start the show in October instead of September.
This compromise works for me. Let's hope Damon gets his way!
